Subject: Implications of ritual/prohibition in Christianity

After seeing that ritual and prohibition are an inherent part of the religious cycle of violence in many religions, yet Christianity is founded on the gospels in which we are presented with a way to escape that cycle, I cant help but wonder what the implications of the rituals and prohibitions in Christianity are. Due to Christ being the foundation, are they inherently separated from the workings of other religions, or do they take part somehow in that mechanism or the human attempt to hide that mechanism? I just thought of how different denominations constantly argue about some of these things that are not necessarily inherent to the core of christian belief yet are the cause of much conflict in the christian faith. I just wonder if Christianity is completely founded upon the knowledge of the revealed mechanism, or if in our refusal of the Kingdom of God, we have perhaps infused it with some aspects of that reversion to other religious practices in some ways, and what Girard would say in regard to it.
