I'm skeptical that Imitatio Christi precludes all differences. I think that even in the Kingdom of God, we are still applying Girard's theory to real people. And even though real people are imitative and try to imitate Christ's and Paul's virtue and kindness, this still may leave differences. Again, while I imitate a number of professors' intellectual behaviors, I do not imitate the way they dress.

One feature of the Gospel accounts that keeps them from giving way to complete sameness, is that our information on Christ's life is limited. Therefore, we can only imitate select things about him. This leaves us with plenty of differences.

Also, since the new mimeticism is a cycle of love rather than of violence, why even worry about sameness? In the old system, it would give rise to violence, because it occurred in a system of violence. But now, in a system of love, what can sameness induce but more love -- "More happy love, more happy, happy love!/Forever warm and still to be enjoyed..."
