Subject: A New Mimeticism

Girard presents Christianity as establishing a nonviolent Kingdom of God. In I Corinthians 11:1, Paul deals with the mimeticism inherent in human nature within the context of this new religion. He writes, "Imitate me as I imitate Christ." In this new cycle, Paul loves all men and becomes all things to all people. In turn, each person who comes into contact with him then imitates him as he follows Christ. And if each person who meets up with his followers.....and so on. This establishes a cycle of love, in which differentiations are no longer needed.

The concern remains, however; within the context of this reading, there are no differences within the Kingdom of God. Is there then no culture within God's kingdom?
