In reply to: Kuro Maata 's message, "WARNING: ATTENTION WHORE!" on 11:32:52 07/16/06 Sun

.. He wasn't out of it enough to not realize that she wasn't paying complete attention. Yet at the same time he wasn't there enough to really raise a hand in obedience for her. It was just something about this night, perhaps, that had him so enraptured to the setting of the sun. At her words, he stared down at her.

"I would have thought you wouldn't be one to turn down a meal." He let the implication sit as it landed, though he did turn so he was on his side facing her instead of the crimson cloud blanket overhead. "I'm not one to retire when the night is so young." He wouldn't bend to her wishes as he figured Gordon must have. No, it just wasn't in him to bend to anyone but his own creator. And even then it was with a nasty disposition and a few holes in the wall from the argument and struggle that typically followed. There were reasons why Cale didn't show up at random any more. ..

Kuro had tried. But, she was smart enough not to push the vampire. Smart girl, pretty girl. She missed Gordon, and the place just above her heart felt empty when she thought back to their adventures in the Amazon. Maybe it was more than companionship? Nahhh...

The shifter lifted her head and nuzzled him ribs, almost hiding away from her own thoughts. "I'm sorry, Master. That was out of line." She offered no explanation. There wasn't a need for one unless the Master wanted one. She had overstepped her status and knew it too well. But, she didn't apologize for thinking about her old Master. Didn't think she needed to.

There was no fear for Dorjan, just respect. Her old Master had respected him, so she would as well. But, there was no fear, no admiration for his morals. No connection. Damn it, why couldn't she stop thinking about Gordon? Perhaps that Christmas? Or was it that time with the whipped cream? She didn't know.

.. Dorjan's mood appeared to be souring, and rather quickly at that. He certainly wasn't pleased to have her continually thinking about Gordon, and at the rate this was going he'd probably end up phoning his friend up to have him handle the situation. Sure, she was good breeding stock, but it was another thing to try and readjust emotions. Not that Dorjan hadn't done that before, and not that he couldn't - it was simply a matter of personal preference. It worked better when it was him that they were enamored with afterall.

The scowl on his face was apparent in the red lighting of the setting sun. "Sorry does not cover everything." He sat up when he was finished with that sentence, even perhaps before her mind had had the ability to process it. His hands were gone from her sides and back, and he seemed to be pondering something in the distance again. Power broiled around him, angry, mood-spoiled energies. ..

When the vampire sat up, Kuro knew that there wasn't a chance that she'd get anything close to comfort from him. She missed Gordon, but she had enough loyalty to him to take her job - yes, she thought of it as her job - seriously. Pushing the thoughts of chocolate frosting from her mind, she automatically pulled down her protective barriers as well, the ones protecting her human mind from her beast.

A wave of energy was released from Kuro's skin, trying - desperately trying - to match with the vampire's. No longer was she thinking reasonably. This was all instinct now, and her instincts told her that she was in danger. Her hackles raised, more of a canine gesture than a feline. She kept her body on the ground in a sign of submission and exposed her thick fur-covered neck to the Master.

Kuro? Nope. She's gone. This was Kuro's shell, the one that protected her, warned her. Her gut and intuition, you might say. Didn't say she didn't want him in bed, now did I?

.. The scowl on his face only deepended at her attempts. There was nothing there to harm him, of course, as what he had released thusfar was only inadvertant. If she couldn't pick that up, well then, things weren't going to be good around here. He got to his feet easily enough, cat-like grace belying his own anger.

"Stop cowering like some frightened kitten. Get back to quarters, and I suggest taking your dinner with you if you want it." There was a strong underlying threat there. Take it or there won't be any. And at the same time, a sort of twisted emotion - this was for you and I won't eat it without you so you have to eat it or it goes to waste.

His own energies matched and bested hers with every breath he didn't take, black eyes glaring down like stone. His arm muscles were tight, and Kyan's broken collar was proof enough of what he could manage in his own anger. Anger which was probably all the worse because he had never expected to have it directed towards her. ..

With the vampire's sudden movement, Kuro reinstalled her mind barriers and lowered the energy level back to a containable level for a human, thus placing her human mind above her beast's. She cautiously rose to her feet and bowed her head. It was almost in a whisper that she offered her words. "I apologize, Master." It was a strangled sound, and she regretted not sounding stronger, more calm. But, you don't get everything in life.

The shifter raised her spotted crown to survey the prepared meal before her. The Master had spent time to make this, or perhaps he hadn't. Nevertheless, if he wouldn't take it, then neither would she. If he scorned it, then so would she. This lesson had taught her something. That was good. Probably.

Kuro backed away from the angry vampire. She back-stepped slowly, almost waiting for the Master to call her back. But, that was doubtful. She pleaded with her eyes for him to take her back, that she was sorry, that she was just lonely. A million things she tried to say in her eyes. They would probably be ignored.

A thought came to her and her mind went to the Master's bedroom. It would be risky to enter and wait for him there, but it was an all-or-nothing plan. Nothing more risky than that. If Dorjan dismissed her, Kuro would head to his bedroom and wait for him there. If he got there angry...Kur shrugged off the thought. Broken bones heal, but grudges last a bit longer in both parties.

.. He didn't wait for Kuro's response, he didn't have the patience to do that. Instead, he turned from the meal and his book and her, heading down the path towards another entrance into the mansion. It didn't matter that she had tried to reconcile, that she was trying to do better. This was a lesson she should learn and learn quickly about Dorjan - he wasn't forgiving unless it matched his own terms and one shouldn't expect anything less of him than that.

He wasn't one to cross, either, apparently. ..
