I don't read novels or poetry either. Frankly, I think it's a waste of time to spend time reading things (or watching things on tv) that are untrue stories. Occasionally, I will watch a movie, but usually no more than once a month, if even that.

I think it's more important to spend time learning things that are true as well as living in truth. I do think it's important to know how to read, but reading a fictional novel isn't much different than watching television when the end result is your mind being cluttered with made up stuff.
