Lynx, while for you personally and other people anti depressants might not be the right thing, they are a life saver for others. Please don't generalize though because all situations are not the same. I have suffered chronic depression nearly my entire life and this winter went into a major depressive episode. Wellbutrin probably saved my life. As DD said in one of his posts treating depression is an inexact science. Over the years I've been on other anti depressants that didn't help so much but after finding the one that works for me, I feel better than I have for literally 25 years. There is no placebo that could have gotten me through what I've gone through in the past few months. For many people, anti depressants are necessary. Perhaps they are over prescribed by doctors but that is not the fault of the drug but the fault of the prescriber. The drugs work when used properly and to read an article that might lead people to believe anti depressants aren't helpful is irresponsible.
