First of all Three Six Mafia is terrible, completely devoid of talent, and is a sad example of how the glorification of "gangsta" culture simply perpetuates black stereotypes. I agree with Cosby on this one.

Having said that, there is a huge difference between making a derogatory statement about your own race (especially in an absurdly exaggerated manner, as most pop-rap does), and making one about another's race. You could probably generalize that to say that as the only race in America that has not been historically persecuted by other races, whites do not have the "right" to make jokes about other races, whereas those that have been historically persecuted generally are permitted to make jokes about whites and about other races. I do think racial jokes, regardless of their source, simply enforce prejudices, but I can definitely see why whites aren't given as much leeway in this department.

I don't think I'd call this a double standard until whites have either served as slaves under blacks for a couple hundred years or until other races overtake whites as the dominant economic and political group in this country.
