(The ease with which she made the promise made him feel loads better about being apart from her when she was so obviously feeling up to snuff. With a last kiss to her forehead, he promised to see her soon and left her to go in search of the males. On his way there, he decided to check in to see how Ashleigh was doing, and was pleased to find her face in one of the many books she had piled on the main table that dominated one part of the room. He smiled, crossed over to her and crouched to tend to the fire in the hearth as she spoke. He, of course, knew that dragons had two kinds of mates.. but he had not ventured too much into finding out what constituted a binding in either sense. He knew that Bree was his mate, because he had sensed it in her.. she had been made to compliment him.. and he had made her his own. And though they both bore each other's marks he knew that they were not mated in both senses of the word. Only a truly mated couple could read and anticipate each others thoughts and emotions.. and he and Bree could not do that at this point. He glanced over his shoulder as her question struck him. Straightening, he hung the fire poker on its hook and rubbed his hands on his jeans.) It must have happened at some point, though I dinna ken for sure. (He murmured, expression slightly thoughtful and more than a little guarded. He might be fond of the lass, but there were a lot of unspoken personal questions floating in her gaze just then.) Does it say anathing in that book about how to tell the difference? (He was a bit embarassed to say that he did not know if Bree was the mate of his heart or the mate of his soul. He would have thought soulmating would have made her thoughts open to him.. but perhaps they had to be mated in both ways. He didn't really understand it.. because his parents had been stolen from him long before he was old enough to take on a mate, before that sort of information was valuable to him.)
