(Had she heard this sort of talk from anyone other than the dragon before her she would have either laughed or called for some sort of mental assistance.. but this was Kaden.. and she knew damn well that he could accomplish what he set his mind to. He was about the most stubborn male she knew, besides his bloody brother. Sighing, she looked him over without much expression in her own gaze, her mind was too busy reeling with what he had said. She knew that Kaden felt betrayed by his brother, left out in the cold for sure, but she had never thought he would feel so betrayed as to want to leave his home.. his heritage and his family. The fact that he wanted her with him as an advisor, and as a necessary friend was flattering, but she was sixteen and had her adulthood to plan out. Dragons lived a long time.. and now was the time to start planning for that long future. If she left lallybroch and started a new clan with Kaden she would be betraying her own people.. and her choices for a mate would be much much slimmer. Would she be forced to settle for a washed out soldier? She would never do such a thing, of course.. she needed a strong male, a leader, someone that she could stand proudly beside and trust to help raise their whelps. She frowned, watching him as he shifted into human form.) Kaden.. I.. this is huge.. I mean.. (She sat up and the ivy left her hair, so that all at once she went from goddess to sixteen year old girl. She looked up at him with those impossibly green eyes and something between need and fear flashed between them.) I want to be wi' ye, Kaden.. ye are my truest friend.. (She said softly, and her hands fell open on her denim clad thighs.) ..but what of my future? Och, I am goina be an adult soon, Kaden.. and if I start out by betraying those who took me in and starting a new clan.. what will my prospects be for mating? Where will I live? I have nae a penny to my name.. I've nay a thing in the world except for my family.. and ye. (She felt it was wrong to betray Dane when his family had saved her as an egg.. but betraying Kaden seemed worse to her. She wrapped her arms around herself, looking a bit insecure.) Promise me ye willnae leave me, Kaden? I.. yer the only friend I've got.. and I dinnae think I could bear it to lose ye.
