It stung a little bit that she didn't believe that he could care for her - that he could give her what she needed and see her mated off to go a good man who would be what she deserved. Still, he could see her reservations and understand her concerns and so just nodded, turning a bit so that his back was to her for a moment - his eyes scanning the woods surrounding him. It seemed he was destined to be truely alone in life and it was time he came to terms with that. When he turned, his eyes were just a bit darker shade of blue, a midnight color that seemed like they might be able to turn black - even in his human form - at any minute. It was the insecurity in her tone and the words she used that made him soften a touch, stepping forward as he looked down at her. Both hands came up to frame her shoulders and then slide up her neck to cup her cheeks, gazing down at her seriously. "Och, ye break my heart lass. I have tae go. I cannae stay here like this anymore and I just...this is something that I have to do." He brushed his thumbs gently beneath her eyes for a moment before he leaned down to press a kiss to her forehead. "Ye are my best friend, also, ye ken and I hate to leave here with ye with me but I understand that yer future is important as is yer family. I donnae want to hurt Cynthia or Kyle in the least but I think they would understand that mayhap both of us are meant for something other then this..." He shrugged a little, letting out a soft breath as he took a step back, releasing her from his grip as he did so. "Just..donnae tell me nay just yet, give it some time and think about it a wee bit, aye?" If she said no, after pondering it for some time, he would accept her answer and move on, he wouldn't pressure her or badger her into changing her mind.
