Subject: REPOST: Adieu, Adios, Au Revoir Ch 26-27

Ch 26
She stared at him sitting across the table frm her. She could hardly believe he was really there. She had lost him so
many times. First when she'd foolishly and heedlessly married honest, then when he'd walked away from her and
Salem after the whole thing hit the fan with avengeance. Then she'd gotten him back only to push him away, the result
being that he nearly died in a car crash and had said that he never wanted to see her again. But now all that was
behind her and she was tantalizingly close to gettting him back for good. She swore to herself as she watched him eat
his steak that she'd never let him out of her sight again. If she had learned one thing from all of this it was that the love
she felt for Micheal William Horton was forever.

"What are you staring at?" He asked her suddenly.

"I would think that it was obvious. I can't takle my eyes off you."

"Scared I'll disappear."

"Don't look so shocked; it's happened before."

"Ha, ha."

"Seriously Mike, we've been through so much I often thought we'd never find our way back to each other. It broke
my heart when you left."

"Well we've done our share of heartbreaking haven't we? I propose we make a deal, to never again break each
other's hearts."

"Sounds good to me. Does that mean you really can see yourself building a future with me?"

"Carrie, I have always seen myself with you, even during the lowest points in our relationship. You are my only."

"And you're mine. We've all made mistakes but in spite of it all I never doubted that we were meant to be. Austin was
like a bad dream."

"It wasn't all bad with Austin was is?"

"Ugh, well if you insist on talking about Austin on our first date, which by the way I think is sick...No, we had our
good times, a lot of them but I never felt complete with him. here was always something absent. I didn't know til later
that it was you."

"I on the other hand always knew what was missing with Ali, other than her being a few bricks short of a full load. She
wasn't you and I couldn't even trick myself into thinking I was in love with her."

"I know I set you up but from day one I was madly jealous. It felt like she was taking my place."

At this he leaned over the table and put his hand on her cheek. "Princess, no one can ever take your place in my
heart. Only you hold the key." He saw her smile and asked about it. "What?"

"You haven't called me Princess in a long time. I missed hearing those words."

"Well Princess, we've done a lot of super serious talking so how 'bout we move on to some dancing."

"I thought you'd never ask."

The song that played as he led her to the floor wasn't their song from L.A. or the one from Vegas. It wasn't a song
they'd ever danced to before. It was fitting because it was a new beginning for them and this song marked that.

And, when I hold you in my arms I promise you
You're gonna feel a love that's beautiful and new
This time I'll love you even better
Than I ever did before
And you'll be in my heart forever more

We, we're just too young to know
We fell in love and let it go
So easy to say the words goodbye
So hard to let the feeling die

I know how much I need you now
The time is turning back somehow
As soon as our hearts and souls unite
I know for sure we'll get the feeling right

CHORUS
And now we're starting over again
It's not the easiest thing to do
I'm feeling inside again
"Cause everytime I look at you
I know we're starting over again
This time we'll love all the pain away
Welcome home my lover and friend
We are starting over, over again

If we niver lived alone
Then we might have never known
All of the time we spent apart
All we did was break each other's hearts

And when I hold you in my arms I promise you
You're gonna feel a love that's beautiful and new
This time I'll love you even better
Than I ever did before
And you'll be in my heart forevermore

REPEAT CHORUS

And now we're starting over again
This time we'll chase all the rain away
Welcome home my lover and friend
We are starting over, over again
We are starting over, over again

By the times the song was over they were staring deep into each other's eyes and not moving at all. The toher patrons
at Chez Vous commented to each other that they were just standing still, holding each other. The dancing was in their
souls, their hearts. It was a kind of dancing that went far beyond the dance floor and as they stood there, oblivious to
the audience they'd attracted, both knew without a doubt that this time the dance would not end in tears.

"I love you." He whispered in her ear.

"I love you back."

Ch 27
They sat there in the park, blissfully contented and apparently oblivious to the world around them. With their arms
entangled in each other they inspired many a curious look from passersby but they didn't care. All that really mattered
was that they had reached this destination after so much time struggling to find their way to each other and back again.
But all that was forgotten now. They were to be married in a week and from that day forward would be intertwined
all the way into eternity.

Mike Horton looked at his fiancee in near disbelief. For so many months he had believed in his heart of hearts that she
would never be his and yet here she was, promised to him. It seemed almost surreal whenever he thought about it,
that she loved him and she was his. The name Austin no longer brought forward feelings of bitterness and deep
sadness, only gratitude that he had sabotaged his own marriage to Carrie, allowing for him, Mike to step in and make
her happy.

Her head was resting on his shoulder, her eyes half shut. They had that kind of relationship where they didn't ned to
communicate with words, the silence could speak volumes and he had no doubt that she was as happy as he was. But
something drove him to break the silence.

"What are you thinking about?" She asked.

"Nothing much, just how deliriously happy I am that a week from today you will be my wife."

A strange expression crept over her face, causing him to glance at her with curiosity. "What's the matter Sweetheart?"

"Nothing Horton, it's nothing."

Mike was not to be so easily appeased. "I know you too well Carrie and I know eery face you make. That was
definitely not your nothing face. So spill it; I'll get it out of you eventually anyway."

"I'm just scared I guess."

"Of what? Of me?"

"Of course not. I could never be afraid of you. Of us I suppose."

"What is there to be afraid of?"

"I've been married once before remember. My marriage to Austin happened in haste and I had no time for second
thoughts. This time I do and they are filling my head. I know this is supposed to be forever Mike but the last time
forever turned out not to last for long."

"Because you and Austin weren't meant to be. It was the same for me and Robin. You and I are different Carrie.
We're different because we're soulmates. Just look at all the things we've had to get through. If we weren't meant to
be we never would have lasted this long."

"You sound awfully confident for someone who just a few short months ago swore they never wanted to see me
again."

"I explained that to you already. I was scared, out of my mind actually."

"Well I suppose it doesn't really matter anymore now does it. Mike, can you believe we're actually getting married in
only a week, after all this time."

"A part of me can't either because I have dreamed this so many times. In other ways I just can't believe it took us this
long."

"You and the rest of Salem." Mike suddenly withdrew from her and took something from his pocket. He then turned
away from Carrie and wouldn't let her see hat he was doing.

Afgter several minutes he sat upright again and motioned for Carrie to look at someting of the bench. Inside a large
heart he had carved:

MC
4 EVER
+
1 Day

"What is that all about? Why did you do that, why here?"

"Think about it Carrie, this bench as been here throughout our relatonship, starting way back when we were kids. So,
as testament to its steadfastness even when we lasped into self doubt I have hereby delcared it an official landmark of
our love."

Carrie smiled the smile that had made him fall in love with her. "In that case, may all the lovers who sit upon it be
blessed with a love as strong and true as ours."
