Subject: Angela & Kim, You will be missed. It is sad when anyone chooses to leave the system...for everyone. You guys are great and so are your queens. But I would also like to add that although, I can understand your reasons for leaving, I do have to disagree with you about something. My daughter was a contestant in the state pageant and she had fun! In fact, she was surprised at how much fun she had. She did not think it would be as much fun as it was. And she told me this on the phone before finals nite, so it had nothing to do with where she did or did not place in the pageant. However, she did make the finals and she was very natural and very much herself! So I really don't understand that part of what you wrote. But I do wish you well and hope to see you and your queens back at state! Author: Good luck to you both! Notice the word some instead of all. In terms of the natural thing I kind of agree. The person was supportive, just didn't agree with the implications that the pageant was so competitive that it was hard to have fun and that the finals were made up of girls who were not prepared to be "natural". I read it the same way and I also disagree. It is possible to have fun and to make the top 15 by being natural and yourself. She never said that the top 15 wasn't natural. I think you are just reading pieces of the sentence and concentrating on one or two words instead of reading them in context. It does make for more community support. There are some other pageants that either already do this or that I have heard are doing this for the coming year, among them one or two of the Leading Lady pageants, one in Palm Beach, and the Hialeah pageant. I have also heard talk of some pageants possibly awarding two titles, one for highest scoring local contestant and one for the highest scoring open contestant. I think that is a great idea also!
