本港同性戀組織 Horizons（啟同服務社）前晚舉行香港歷史上第一次同志大遊行，共有約100個參加者身穿艷麗裝束，環繞蘭桂坊「起舞」遊行。發起人之一的何禮傑表示，希望藉著活動向未能公開同志身分的姐妹弟兄作出勉勵，表明同性戀者也有尊嚴。

何禮傑表示，早於1992年香港宣布同性戀合法化時，有同志組織曾嘗試舉行遊行，但反應並不踴躍，顯示當時社會對同性戀者歧視甚深。但隨著香港社會逐漸開放，多了同性戀者願意走出來「示人」。他希望明年繼續舉辦同志遊行。

同志聯席發言人邵國華表示，現時香港市民對同性戀者的看法，較10年前大有進步，市民都會以包容的態度看待同性戀者。他表示﹕「今次的遊行是同性戀者對自己身分認同的一個里程碑，同性戀者對自己的身分是驕傲的。」他認為同性戀者不應隱瞞自己的身分。

不過，他指前日的活動由一間酒吧贊助，目的只不過是要為其酒吧推廣啤酒，商業味道過於濃厚，加上安排過於倉卒，未有足夠時間知會同性戀者參與，故參與人數不多。但他表示支持同志組織每年舉行一次遊行，「這可以帶出我們對自己身分感到驕傲、我們都有自己訴求等重要信息。」
