其實有關性傾向的論爭由83年討論非刑事化時就展開, 一直以來教會都視同性變為病態, 背離道德的行為, 早期它還認為同性戀應受到法律的懲罰, 把一夫一妻制視為神性不可侵的制度。胡露茜則從宗教的發展指出在不同的時期, 教會會支持不同的性關係制度, 猶太支持一夫多妻, 羅馬支持獨身等等。真理和自然不是凡人可以輕易理解的, 自然中有多元物種, 這是神的旨意, 性態作為自然的一部份, 亦非一元, 不能以單一的真理去壓制其他的性態可能。

不過令胡露茜最感失望的是, 這次教會組織所發起的一人一信行動所採取的策略失去了真誠。在信的開首就指出立法會令教會和異性戀者受到歧視, 這策略的目的是為了製造一種恐懼, 以武裝自己進行抵抗, 這種做法是為了維持教會的利益, 以石頭取代關愛和真誠。

在場一位國際特赦組織的成員Liz亦指出, 明光社和傳媒把反歧視法的內容完全扭曲。她指出港府的反歧視法只涵誘T個部份: 工作 (不能因為一個人的性取向而停止聘用), 服務 (教育, 房屋等), 以及會籍。反歧視法根本不會以語言入罪,但「一人一信」的內容, 使人以為反歧視法可以以言論入罪, 這是完全的誤導。
