Closing the pre-release facilites was (gonna semi-swear, sorry) a fucktarded decision by the Powers That Be.

In addition to the loss of staff (or reassignments to wherever), the taxpayers took to hit on shutting down facilites that cost less than half the amount it costs to maintain a higher security facility.

And - again this is from an ex-con with 12 years...err... seniority - what the fark are we doing with all these non-violent offenders sitting on their thumbs and watching Jerry Springer reruns in higher security????

What? - a con running a tenner for moving rock can't get paroled while a rapist can? And the same dealer can't get good time but the rapist can? And that's not all - farking cons with multiple stolen motor vehicles are in the same boat - no parole, no pre-release.

Ranting - and you are right - that is on the politicians/powers that be that seem a wee bit out of touch at times.

Hundreds of thousands of man hours wasted every year. It's a farking shame.

Get em on work crews helping out Habitat for Humanity in building/renovating homes for those in need.

Get em working on body armour for our troops. BA is very labor intenstive and turns a small profit margin. Yeah, they might have unions, but Crimminy Christ - a good number of the Rangers killed in Mogadishu were shot in the back - they only had frontal BA protection. Ya heard of Dragon Skin? Very effective up to 7.62 AP (and frikken HE/AP shrap rounds/grenades) but again - super labor intensive. I would rather have been stitching vests than wandering the Norfolk yard for nine years. I respect unions, but there is a time and a place.....

Animal Companion Training Program: Whatever happened to this??? Training animal companions for the physically challenged is soooo labor intensive that these organizations make no profit at all - quite the opposite in fact. Shart! I would have worked with the dogs during the day and stitched body armor at night. Just toss me a Ben and Jerrys every now and then.

Sticking and picking is great - lovely highways; just look out for crumbling bridges as you pass under them.

What a farking waste......

Rant seems to have gone waaaaay over the edge - might have to edit/re-post it somewhere else.

Anyhoo and back to the point - pre-release is a win-win for ALL involved: provides progressive reintegration/money savings for the inmate, saves the taxpayer money, and provides in-custody/in-service employment for correctional staff.

Got to lay off those durn grande Starbuck's coffees - my hands are shaking.....

Excuse the rant/rave, and as always....

With respect.

Meh.
