• She had been looking for a job, but it wasn't as active as it probably should have been because she'd found something she loved even more than being out, making her own money, being an independant woman, and that was spending time with her children and Gabe's son. So here she was, sprawled on the floor with three kiddikins piled on top of her, Zee sat right up on her lap, nestled against her chest, as the quartet watched an episode of Bear in a Big Blue House. Peter laid out on his stomach with his head toward her feet, and Aislinn resting with her head on her mother's thigh, Ace's fingers working idly through her long blonde hair - this was the life. • Now this is actually what he had been hoping for when he asked her to move in with him. His eyes took in the scene before a gentle smile played over his thin lips, barely curving them up before he just shifted to stretch out on the couch - still in his suit and not caring about wrinkles or anything of the like. • They had developed an uneasy partnership, but their budding friendship seemed to have been thrown out the window when she'd moved it. It was very awkward to be in someone's space when one still wasn't sure what the other thought about them. She did feel, at times, like she was intruding, something like the way you feel when you stumble across a maintenance area at a hotel. He was, however, really delusional if he thought she was going to miss ANY of this episode of Bear to make him something to eat. She looked up, raised a brow, and nodded. • Peter looked up, the only time he had even acknowledged Gabe's arrival and stated with a great deal of sombreness. "The bowtie kind. With chicken and white sauce." Ace couldn't help but let a little laugh, looking up at Gabe and nodding. "He's got a pretty good idea there.." The feeling of his fingers in her hair was foreign but she didn't object - that had always been her weakness - to persuade her into anything, all anyone had to do was play about with her hair or touch her neck - she was, ever as she had always been, an extremely physical person. • She rested her hand on Aislinn's shoulder and allowed her eyes to slide shut lightly as his fingers continued through her hair - it was almost a seriously intimate thing happening in a not-so-intimate setting for her. • She was in no position to refuse it if he had offered it at this point - she was so damn tired of not being touched by a man that she was seriously considering going out to pull a random guy one of these nights - she could do it, right? She felt off to her side, fingers running across the carpet without getting out of range of his fingers and found the cordless that she had brought into the room for this express purpose. • When he got up it was as though she was shaken from her reverie, and she took in a deep breath, her eyes drawing open and her sharp cobalts scanning the room as though waiting for someone to pop out and reveal that she was living some kind of a lie by not throwing herself at Gabe the way she wanted to. She pried a nearly dozing Aislinn off of her knee and stood, stretching out her long legs, letting a long yawn out of her. "Mine are alright." There was always that distinction, though, that would probably never be resolved - Aislinn and Peter were referred to as "mine" and Zee as "yours" - the lines between those two would likely never be blurred. • She found it ironic that they now had their nice house with the little white picket fence scenario but they weren't together - the only way she could react to that was the odd bit of bitterness and hostility that occasionally showed through. • She let Pete down out of her lap and went over to get the picture, her heart nearly pierced when she saw the beautiful little girl. She paused, and looked up to him, a brow raised. • "Drive safe." She watched him leave, watched his back long after he'd gone out the door, thoughtful. Finally, she rose, wandering to the kitchen and setting the table - the high chair and the booster seat, and the pillow on the chair for Peter who would have rested his chin against the table if she didn't. • Aislinn nodded, strapped into her high chair, and chorused some sort of affirmative garble. Peter on the other hand, waited patiently for his meal, his lips pressed together. She worried about him, he didn't seem to be adjusting as well as Ais, but as far as actually talking to the kids, she wasn't that hot - looking after them was no problem. She herself, was pulled up on the corner just perpendicular to Gabe's end of the table, Aislinn on her right hand side so she could help out with their food. (NT) -- Ace, 18:55:13 12/06/04 Mon

• She took the food from him, setting Ais up and digging in, twisting her hair over her shoulder and holding it as she pulled the steaming pasta to her lips, keeping a close eye on Aislinn who hadn't yet mastered her fork. It was late for them to be having dinner, and with the food in them, they'd probably knock out sooner rather than later - she could speak for Aislinn at least. She looked up at Gabe. • It was her altered version of a peace offering. She could be difficult to get along with, but she was still reeling over the whirlwind end of her marriage and moving in with him and dealing with a good mixture of emotions at being at such a close proximity to the man that she had loved more than anyone. • She nodded lightly, again her eyes glued to him as he walked away - it was almost an unwilling thing - though he was a very attractive figure, she didn't want to repeat history.. "We'll be fine." • By the time he was done contacting the agency and then handling some work - even though he had determined to say away from it - it was near bed time and he went to collect Zee and get him ready for bed. • She watched, her heart warmed by the interaction between the man and his son - under different circumstances... that could have been their own child.. but now was no time to get all weepy. She collected her own kids, readying them for bed and putting them both in their respective beds before she wandered back downstairs, clearing some of the dishes and rinsing them off, putting them in the dishwasher, just doing some general tidying up - it soothed her, more than she would have liked, she was feeling more and more comfortable in this role.. • She shrugged a little bit, taking a drink from a glass of water that she'd set aside, and looked up at him. "Whatever's on.. or you could pick.. just no.. yucky romances.." To say she'd lost faith in the idea of love was probably a huge understatement. • She nodded a little, slid back up into her prior position on the counter, and set her glass in the sink as they'd already started a load in the dishwasher. "Well... you know what I'll pick then.." Of course, some surfing biopic or something of that manner - she didn't get out on the waves much anymore, but her mind was still very much obsessed with the sport. • She was laid on her stomach near the tv, reading the back of a couple of cases before she rolled over onto her back, holding up a copy of "The Emperor's New Groove".
