"Well, I am not most men." He wasn't going to just jump into have sex with her, he refused to make this into a purely physical relationship and it just wasn't practical. Once he started touching her, he wouldn't stop and they had to get up shortly and they weren't going to be able to handle three rowdy kids when they were sleep deprived.
