Subject: More Competitions in SA
In reply to: thanks 's message, "Can somebody please tell me what date the Howe feis is??" on 20:28:26 08/14/06 Mon

I have been following this thread for the last few days and would just like to point out a couple of things to the enthusiastic people out there who are willing to run more feis in SA. I am sure that there are teachers in SA who would also be willing to run more feis but with the costs involved and other issues it is not often viable. To run a two day event I would suggest the costs would be as follows:- Hall Hire - between $800 - $2000 (depending on the venue), Air fare for judge - $200 - $500, Judging Fees - at least a couple of hundred dollars, Medals, Trophies, Hire and transportation of flooring etc. etc. These issues coupled with the small number of entries received does not make it viable. I have also been reading about the complaints (although not many) about travelling to the Shedley for this years States. SA is not blessed with a great deal of venues but the ones that are used - I am sure all other parents and dancers would agree are of an excellent standard. Anyway - good luck to all dancers for the weekend.
