Hi Randy,

Let me get something straight! I DO NOT BREED B-BOOK FRIESIANS! And I did not state anywhere in my last post saying that I do. Obviously you don't read clearly! The issue is not whether b-book breeding is right or wrong! It's about our simple rights being taken away from N.A. breeders!! Is it right that the rest of the world gets to register b-book horses in the KFPS, but North Americans can't? It's just all political B.S. If you think about it there aren’t very many Friesians registered in the B-book in North America anyways in a given year. So to close the B-Book would be unproductive anyways.

People will still breed unapproved stallion to KFPS mares. It’s just bound to happen. That’s because we live in a country where European standards are not understood! People just have their own way of thinking in this country. Just look at the Arabian, Quarter, Paint, and Appaloosa registries. If you were tell the Arabian people that they need to get their stallions approved for breed in N.A. They would think you were nuts! They would not go for it! People like this that don’t understand the Friesian/European way of breeding or that don’t like the high standards. Will do what they please! It is inevitable.

To be quite honest with you I would much prefer to see a purebred Friesian that is by an unapproved stallions be registered in KFPS. Other than that the purebred breeding will more than likely be registered in a cross registry or any other Friesian association that has nothing to do with the KFPS or FHANA. To me that’s a shame. Why do you think that there are so many Friesian registries and associations in this country. The reason is people thought that their papers would be taken away from them if they bred their unapproved stallion to KFPS mares, or that they cross bred their horses! So people went their own way with the Friesians. So in a way the FHANA is helping all those Friesian cross/purebred Friesian registries. I’m sure all those registries/associations will just love getting those purebred foals registered!

Then the thing is those mares that are registered in a cross/purebred registry will now be bred to another unapproved stallion. Just because people for the most part keep their Friesian mares as broodmares. So then you have unapproved breeding to unapproved breeding to unapproved breeding. So basically you have Friesians by unapproved stallions for generations. Does this make sense!!! Not really! But, if the horse was registered in the b-book II category. This horse could be bred to KFPS approved stallions. Then down the road people could have horses in the studbook with a b-book II horse in it’s mareline! Basically down the road you could get horses that are registered correctly. In the adult studbook from the get go! But, you can’t do that if people are forced to register their backyard Friesians (aka B-B II) in cross breed registries. Irresponsible Friesian breeding can eventually be corrected through time if registered in the b-book II. But, irresponsible breeding will just keep going if people are forced to register backyard bred Friesians in cross breed registries. This is not right!

You must understand that unapproved breedings will happen in this country. There is nothing anyone can do about! Closing the b-book will not solve the problem! Only because people have their own ideas of the way things should be done! That will be a fact for eternity! Unfortunately!

Hopefully I’ve opened up your eyes Randy! And, you can stop being a smart ASS!

~Jesse
