I had a full hyst 4 years ago when I was 41, so a bit older than you ... but even so, young for menopause. I couldn't go on HRT for 4 months so got all the symptoms in one fell swoop and it was ghastly, so know what you must be going through. Hot flushes are the absol pits as they disrupt your sleep and make you feel so yucky during the day too! It is difficult going through this early because as you say, most of your friends aren't at that stage and just haven't got a clue. And when you try and explain they think you are just a right old moaner! LOL I hope some of the garden folk can give you some advice ... I'm sure Whitewolf will come up with some herbal preps you could try. Its also worth doing a Google search for natural remedies or look on Amazon for Natural Menopause books. I use a natural progesterone cream as well as the oestrogen HRT (which is a low dose one) which might help you. With HRT you have to way up the fact that oestrogen is also protective for the heart and bones etc and often the advantages can balance the disadvantages. Probably better to have a few years on it now and then come off it then, than the other way round although if there is a strong family link with certain cancers this might not be advisable. I suppose a doctor would be able to tell you that. And also when they say HRT increases the risk of certain cancers ... well they might say it increases it by say 50% which sounds a lot. But when you actually look at the statistics, it might really mean that out of 100 women instead of 2 getting it, 3 get it. In other word one extra woman over say 10 years will get it out of 100. Seeing it that way puts it more into perspective. Controlling stress is very important during this time .. and you have had a fair amount of that recently! So lots of sleep, relaxation etc helps plus regular exercise and diet can also play a bit part. Lots of foods act as phyto-oestrogens and can help to raise your blood levels, such as soya, pulses and oats. Anyway, hope you feeling more yourself soon Sam :) Love Rowan x [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
