I get fairly random hot flushes (sadly, wine definitely causes them!) and my skin is very dry. My local herbalist put me on a mix of agnus castus and dong quai. I'm currently trying some ayurvedic remedies but think I'll go back to the Agnus/Dong combination. My gynae has put me on locally-applied oestrogen and I feel uneasy about that. I have decided to give it a fair crack for 6 months and if I see no benefit come off it and manage as best I can without. One thing that might be a good idea if you don't opt for HRT is to ask your GP for a bone density test. You have to go to hospital for one but they test you early on, then every year or so just to check there's no problem. As for your work colleague - mine just have no idea what to say, and as is usual in those sort of circumstances, they joke about it. But they're getting used to me flinging the window open!
