Hi,
i can't sleep my hands and feet...in fact all my bones are so sore. I found out on Friday i have osteoarthritis, i know its not serious and i will get gnarly hands but heck it hurts.
Any natural remedies? someone told me rose-hip works. The doc told me to take glucosamine, also i heard nettle tea is good.
I know i shouldn't be moaning about nothing, sorry.
Big hugs and bright blessings, love heather.xxxxx
P.S. my fingers look like pigs t**s lol.

oh Heather, I'm sorry to hear this honey (((hugs)))... and don't you dare apologise, you're not moaning!! Sending soothing, healing energies your way.

Stinging Nettles would be my first choice... Ginger is another good choice, you could add freshly grated ginger to your nettle tea, or use ginger in cooking (mmm good excuse for some ginger cookies!)
Pineapple has been cited as a remedy for arthritic related conditions (pineapples contain bromelain, a chemical with anti-inflammatory properties).
Did your Doctor talk to you about diet and which foods to avoid?

As for some more immediate pain relief, how are you with Lavender oil? (is this one you or someone in your family is allergic to? or was that tea-tree?) Rosemary is another wonderful pain-relieving oil. Either or both of these diluted in a carrier oil can be gently massaged into particularly painful areas. If you're ok with both of these herbs you could brew up an extra strong pot of rosemary and lavender (herbs not the oils now), leave to brew for about half an hour and then strain into a warm bath - with some (himalayan crystal) salt.

I hope you manage to get some sleep and some relief from the pain. Hugs and Blessings x x x

Good morning,
finally got to sleep at 4.
Thanks WhiteWolf i will try the ginger and the pineapple love lavender i use it for just about everything.
Its funny you should mention pineapples, i don't normally bother with them but just lately i seem to notice them when i go shopping....you know what i mean...you look and think ooh i fancy one of those, then i go to get something else and forget all about it...i think your body does tell you what it wants.
My doctor never told me about things to eat or not to eat (that is the question..sorry).He is a lovely doc but when you go in his room its almost like one of those chess games where you hit the timer, then your garbled problems come out hurriedly and you expect him to then hit the same timer and say "stop, times up".
Thanks for helping me....hug.
Big hugs and bright blessings, love heather.xxxxx

I forgot to mention Lemon Juice... delicious addition to the nettle tea too :) (You're better off using loose nettles rather than nettle tea bags... IMO)

As far as diet goes... a healthy fruit and veg, grains, nuts and the likes, and keep sugary and fatty foods in moderation. Oily fish is supposed to be good for osteoarthritis... and antioxidants and vitamins A, C, D and selenium have proved beneficial. Rooibos, green tea, catnip and mint tea are all rich in antioxidants - as are the following foods : beans - especially Mexican red bean, kidney beans and pinto beans, blueberries, cranberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries.. berries in general really lol, plums, artichokes, prunes... ooh I'm getting rather hungry now lol!!
Hope some of that is useful Heather.
Blessings x x x

Hi Heather - really sorry you are in such discomfort. I know damp weather affects rheumatism - wonder if the same for OA. Its in our family too, on one side. I would agree with all Whitewolf's advice. Really hope it helps you. And yes your body is probably the wisest to know what it needs (as in pregnancy!).

I so know what you mean about docs being on a time schedule. I have it all rehearsed beforehand so i can get it all out within the 10 minutes! Only one doc in the practice is the old fashioned sort - shakes your hand, has a little general chat first and really listens and takes his time, treats you as an individul who really matters. He is always running late but no-one minds as his attitude to his patients makes all the difference. You come out feeling better than when you went in! LOL.
Hope you feeling more comfortable soon - sending healing thoughts you way, hun.

Rowan x

Hi sorry your not feeling well. As an arthritis sufferer let me say your not moaning. IT HURTS! But mu experience has been that the first few flare ups are the worst, then they aren't as severe. I have heard that taking Evening Primrose helps with inflamation too.
Blessings.
