I went to one of the last concerts Dan did in 2003. I remember sitting there all engrossed in the beautiful sounds coming from the stage and watching the interaction between Dan and his band and noticing how Dan was allowing them more and more time with each song, stretching their parts out longer. I was thinking Dan seemed so tired, but it was almost the end of the tour. After it was announced he was sick and was advanced, I thought about how tired he had seemed in that show. It just made me so sad.
I wonder if anyone else noticed or felt something back then?
I will always have that show in my mind. I will forever wish for just one more show.

I thought he looked really tired and not well in the Soundstage recording, which I think was done at the end of the 2003 tour. Sort of puffy and worn out.

I saw him early in the tour in Dayton. I will always be thankful I was able to see him in person on his last tour.

The concert was may not have been the best I had ever seen, but that was in large part due to the weather and not so much Dan being tired. It was outdoors - and it was cold and rainy.

I agree he did not look healty for the Soundstage show, but I'm certain he was very tired by that point. But in later pictures that we have seen on his website he looked to be in pretty good shape, and as Jean has told us he was able to continue to enjoy sailing for a long time.
