I can calm you down on this one. Playboy (the american one) has done a research the past year on what men find attractive in woman. the result:

1) bones sticking out basically are not what men want
2) a skinny woman does not 'give you anything to hold'
3) a 'rond and curved' woman is attractive as long as she is a little 'thight'

Men in this research prefer woman with a normal size as their ideal bed partner above skinny woman. They say the woman in the magazines are 'nice' to look at but in real life they like a real woman. But she needs to be thight in her skin. So a medium size, sportive woman is preferable above a small size woman.

So these kids on mtv are just saying what they think society expects them to say in order to be cool.

My husband thinks I am too thin, in his words I should get some meat on my ass. When he is with his football friends being cool (they are never really sexist) they always, when they discuss woman agree that some woman are too skinny and that 'they should order her a big pizza'.

There are researchers (biologists) that claim that skinny woman are sexually not as attractive than medium woman because men can 'smell or sense' the decrease in hormones when underweight. It then would only be natural that they consider these woman less attractive because she could not reproduce the species. (whether you believe this or not is your choice, this is not a proven thing, I just wanted to mention this to make this complete)

In another research done in germany men claimed that they would rather not be with a woman with a extreme weight (both ways) because they consider it unattractive and they would worry to much about the womans health.

In my opinion, sure there are men who prefer skinny, but I believe most men like an 'average size woman' Being cool on tv does not reflect real opinions.
