 晚上與友人在咖啡店談天，她正準備離港讀書，但又有點捨不得目前的工作，覺得上司很好。她有點兒一面倒地稱讚那位上司，也不知道是否因為行將離開的關係。我想，如果我是她，不知道是否也一樣受用。小時候喜歡玩萬花筒，幾片花花綠綠的碎片，在紙筒裡轉出一個又一個出人意表的世界。稍稍轉動，便是另一個洞天。幾個小朋友興致勃勃地輪流看玩，旁邊的人看著你一隻眼塞進萬花筒裡，卻無法窺探你看到的世界 —— 雖然大家看的是同一個萬花筒。

世界只有那麼一個紙筒和幾片花花綠綠的碎片 —— 還有看的人。萬花筒裡的世界只是一個隨機的圖案，看的人靠著想像和意願拼湊，砌出一個又一個不同的世界。萬花筒其實很簡單，但看的人可以看出很複雜/精彩的世界，讓它成為自己願望/情緒的投射。但是，如何在這種投影中，拆出萬花筒與「我」？如果將「我」從這個萬花筒裡抽走，那個紙筒和幾片花花綠綠的碎片，是否還有意思？

又或許說，我們可以參透/研究萬花筒的圖案，便不會受這花花綠綠的東西迷惑，看一眼便認得出它的本體。如此，萬花筒便轉不出萬花出來了，有的只是花和筒的實相。

不以物喜，不以物悲，真是一個理想的國度？
