While I am not ignoring the injuries that took place with this wreck of the train and the garbage truck - I do want to point out a few issues that would have prevented ALL of this.
First, what company or employer would allow employees to come to work and bring family members with them? Would a plumber, an electrician, a concrete finisher, a welder, bring their families with them to work??? These *politicians* are supposed to be AT WORK, not going off to some *retreat*, taking family members with them. Where is their *work place*? Who is footing the financial burden of this operation? Who is paying the costs of the trip, the retreat, the food, etc, the train fare? Will taxes be charged or used as a deduction on the individual politicians tax statements? I ask each of you to view this as you would any PRIVATE employee, employer, trip away from the normal work place.
We, the REAL EMPLOYERS, need to do some reforming of the work place ethics of these politicians. As I understand it the *office* is in WDC at the Capitols or the adjoining buildings. I am also opposed to all those foreign trips referred to as study trips or some other such excuse to travel (many times with family members) at the expense of the REAL EMPLOYER (Tax Payers). If these politicians were held to a WORK ETHIC - spending so many hours/days/weeks AT WORK and not on some kind of *BREAK* (to campaign or hold hand out for DONATIONS to run again) I can assure you that the ACTUAL $$$ they draw between their paycheck, benefits, and the hours actually WORKED would be much less than what they get right now.
How many RETREATS did our Founding Fathers attend - or even those of the following Congressional gatherings? When did all this kind of absence from their work desks begin? When did they need so many BREAKS (all tax paid for) so many offices, so many tax funded benefits above and beyond actual wages for the job they were elected to do but never seem to manage to get anything done???
How is it that most of them enter office with a small net worth but leave office as multi millionaires????
Give them 6 months to get their job done and that means NO BREAKS - NO foreign travel and no family included retreats or **fact finding** travels.
They can forego all those lobbyist and special interest parties to sell themselves to the monied slave buyers. If they need to do something at night then let them hold their *meetings* in there offices to discuss what they need to do to accomplish what they were sent to WDC to begin with. Let's find a way to return this federal government to the way our Founding Fathers set forth. Back when the *representatives* went to WDC for a set period of time to do the WORK that NEEDED to be done and then go back home to tend to their farms or businesses - not what goes on today and passes as government work. We have let these politicians decide what they can get away with and force us to pay for it.
BAN the Lobbyists - Revise the *work schedule* and eliminate all the perks of holding office. Doing those simple things would greatly reduce the DEBT level and reduce the need for the taxes we have been paying for far too long. Institute TERM LIMITS so that these teat suckers cannot make public office a life long career. Eliminate those pensions for public office and make them pay for their own health and life insurance - like all of us have to do.
If my employee rules were in effect this train wreck wouldn't have happened to these politicians. They would have been in their poffices conducting the work they were hired to perform and their families would have been at home where they belong.
