• She had noted him sneaking out the back door when everyone headed into the living room and she kept her eyes on him for a long moment before she finished cleaning up the kitchen and then headed upstairs to grab a hoodie that she had left in Jackie's room. She tugged on the black hoodie over her gray beater styler tank top. She tugged on her tennis shoes before she stepped outside and sat down next to him, a smile on her face. "Look at you all hiding from the crowds." She teased, bumping his shoulder with hers before she looked up at the stars. "Nice night out, little chilly, but nice none the less." • He didn't need to look back when he heard the door open because he figured that it would be her - and apparently figured right. A small absent smile touched his lips as she spoke and then he glanced over at her for a long moment before following her gaze skyward. "Yeah, little chilly, but it could be worse." He finished his drink off and then pushed aside the glass and leaned forward a little. Shifting to rest his elbow on her thigh, his arm draped between her legs and his fingers curling around her knee, eyes lingering on the darkness beyond the porch - it was almost soothing just being out there in the peace and quiet, knowing that the kids were in side content for the night. • She smiled warmly as he put his hand on her, which made her feel it was ok to lean against him, relishing in his warmth. "I am a freeze baby though, I'll be turning blue in a couple minutes." She smiled a little, looking up at him softly, her dark eyes sparkling in the starlite above them. She was growing to be quite comfortable with him and had enjoyed the times they had hung out outside of the house. She was taking a very casual approach to him, usually letting him set the mood and the tone for when they were together and letting him call when he wanted company. She knew he wouldn't just sit around wishing to see her, if he wanted to hang out, he would call her, if he didn't, he wouldn't call. • His fingers brushed her knee absently as she leaned closer and he nodded a little, that hint of a smile lingering over his features as he glanced down to her. "We'll go inside or something to defrost you in a bit..." He offered with a wink, and then looked straight ahead again, bumping his shoulder gently against hers - she was so soft and sweet and impossible for him to act indifferently towards. That wasn't such a bad thing, he supposed - as contrary to his life's mantra as it might be, he kind of liked having a little bit of light in his life. "I'm sure you didn't fail... She grinned lightly, winking up at him before she sighed, cuddling a little bit closer to make sure she stayed fairly warm so she wouldn't have to make him go inside. "What have you been up to?" She questioned, looking up at him as her hand shifted to rest on his leg like his was on hers. She enjoyed spending time with him, he relaxed her almost as much as she appeared to do him. But he smirked a little at her comment, and then glanced down to her at her closeness and the simple touch, a bit of a smile remaining in place over his normally dark and almost harsh features. "Work's been keeping me busy..." He was complex person and it was nice to have such a simple job - he knew his duties and worked mostly on his own, except when there was a big project or something, and there were just such few complications. "I already cleaned up the kitchen and all that so I am done here." • "What a good little mother hen you make..." He commented with a teasing tone to his voice - but there was also a hint of affection and admiration. She was so warm and compassionate, she was renewing his faith in mankind just by being herself. "Alright, I'll just say a quick goodbye..." Then shifting to stand slowly, he offered a hand down to her to help her up because he figured she would want to say her goodbyes as well before they got out of there. • He couldn't resist dipping his head to press a soft kiss to her cheek - high on the ridge of her cheekbone, just below her eye; it was quick, but sweet. He smiled a little, almost reassuringly, and touched her hip lightly as he guided her gently in the direction of the door back inside. "Come on... Let's so say bye." He suggested with a slight tip of his head, voice quiet still. He knew what she was saying, and though he still felt like he was really on the outside looking in - as he always had been - he felt more like he belonged here than anywhere else, which was why he kept coming back. • He took a few minutes to talk with Joey before saying quick goodnights to everyone else and then joined her at the door - stepping in to his shoes and pulling out his car keys, nodding a little. "Yeah, sure." He didn't get out there as often as she did - usually every few days for him - so it was nice to know that she was there so often helping out around the house. • "It looks great..." He assured her as he slid in the driver's side and started the engine, but looked over at her as he waited to let the car warm up - it was cold night. "There's nothing wrong with your looks, babe." He winked teasingly as a bit of a smirk touched his lips and he shook his head a little, watching her for a moment longer before looking straight out the windshield that was slowly defogging so that he would be able to see. • She smiled sweetly at that, reaching over to squeeze his knee gently before she tipped her head to the side, resting it back against the head rest. "I love this car, have I ever mentioned that?" • His gaze dropped to watch her hand on his knee and then traveled slowly up to meet her eyes before he just smiled a little. "It's a fun car... Cold in the winter and not cheap to keep running, but worth it." He loved the big rumbling engine, and the old school bench seats and it was in pristine condition. He laughed lightly at the description of her dorm's heating system and nodding a little in understanding. "So you might be warm enough, but you can't sleep because it's so loud, right?" Finally now that he could see and the car had warmed up a little in there, he pulled out of the drive and headed in the direction of the city - and his building.
