When I lived on Nelson Road in north end (1955 - 1964) Before it was Bob's Stationary it was MacIvoy's. Joe, the old man who was a mechanic at the Mobil station. Skee's Esso. Wasn't there at one time a speed shop attached to the Shell station on Brook Street across from Petrucelli Grocery? Lord and Taylor used to be just L&T and the strip mall attached to it. Then in the early 60s Schraffts appeared. Nescott Drugs, George's Clothing, Richon's Sport Shop (the guy had a stutter and a pretty red head wife). Lazaar's Hardware, Edward Mendillo plumbing, The A&P, Toyland, Carvel, Scarsdale Lanes then Discount Records. Wasn't there an American Legion post across the street? Burned out cars towed to the back of the Mobil station. When I lived on Oakland Avenue (1964 -1978) Before they put up the fence, sleighriding on Leewood Golf course, Swings, slides and a pblic tennis court at Leewood Field, Clisi, George, and Ray Zocchi at the candy store at Crestwood. (I forgot the name of the girl who worked there) Next door Roberto's became Clisi's. (or was it the other way around?) When Crestwood Train station sold tickets and a guy named Eddie worked there and the station house was open, No light at the Leewood exit for getting on to the Bronx River Parkway. Not the light at the tunnel, I mean no light at the parkway itself. There was no center guard rail so you could see the traffic coming southbound as you waited to turn. Tarter's Mobil at Fischer Ave and Post Road, Eastchester Music Center, (bought my guitar there in 1969) The Power Test gas station, Eastchester Lincoln Mercury (Worked there 8/74 to 12/75) Artie's Steak house (was there really a brothel above the restaurant?)
