Subject: Favorite moments in "Dracula's Daughter" (1936)

The long-awaited sequel to 1931's "Dracula" and a very good film. Lugosi was supposed to return, but didn't. Instead, you had the Count's beautiful daughter, Countess Marya Zaleska and her servant, Sandor. Roemheld's last score for Universal, the last film that ended the first horror cycle and the departure of Carl Laemmle.

This film can be a tad odd at times, too short for character development, and to me, underrated. This 1936 film picks up pretty much where 1931s Dracula left off.

Gloria Holden adds class to the movie, as she tries to lead a normal life, but it's not meant to be. Frankly, I enjoyed it nearly as much as Dracula! It's failing point though was that it was just too short at just over an hour. I wanted more for character development.

Try to catch it over this Halloween season if you can...many films of this type shown around now, but don't think this is on often. It's quite good overall in my opinion, and seemingly modern for a 1936 movie.

It is definitely underrated, perhaps in part because it lacks an iconic horror star like Bela Lugosi. And it is rather short, running less minutes than either Dracula or Son of Dracula.

The famous scene with Countess Zaleska and the young model Lili (Nan Grey) is provocative and effective.

The entire cast does a great job, especially Gloria Holden and Irving Pichel.
