Subject: Monster Mini Quiz

Here's a brief fun quiz. First one to get 'em correct wins an all expense paid (one way) trip to Mongo, 100 Mingols spending cash, a banquet seat and shadow puppet show at King Vultan's Sky City, and an audience with Emperor Ming at his palace.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
1) A man flipped his lid (in a b&w movie) when the person said he liked Lugosi best as "sidekick" to Karloff in the Invisible Ray. Name the movie where this occurs and who (real name) got angry. Feel free to add comments. (Extra credit if you can get name of stagehand.)

2) In what movie (b&w film) did Igor tell Dr. Frankenstein to "....walk like this." (Feel free to add comments.)

3) Who plays the blind man with Peter Boyle playing Frankenstein''s monster. (Comments welcome.)
===========================================================
Ok, your turn..perhaps start easy, then work up to demon level. Here's some easy ones.

a) We first hear of tanna leaves in the first Universal Mummy movie...T or F

b) Do we see the full moon and its effects in the very first Wolfman movie? ________________________________

c) A Bela Lugosi Dracula movie can be had with a music sound track nowadays. T or F

d) Which does NOT belong in this group:
1.Bela Lugosi, 2.Tony Randall, 3.Frank Langela, 4.Jack Palance, 5,Gary Oldman, 6.Leslie Nielson, 7.Gerard Butler

PS If you've any ideas for a format or suggestions re difficulty, content, etc, let us know. This could lighten things up, or make it challenging...any comments, let's hear 'em so members can know.... basically though, it's all in fun, or should be...I think. Any comments on the latter, bring 'em up.

I am just going to try question number one for now, although I could surely use a 100 Mongols in this economy. And Dale Arden has told me how delightfully entertaining King Vultan's puppet shows are...even Orso likes 'em!

It was in the 1994 biopic Ed Wood (1994) that Bela Lugosi (played by Martin Landau) got upset when a stagehand who, after asking for an autograph, complimented Mr Lugosi's performance as "Karloff's sidekick" in The Invisible Ray. Lugosi (Landau) unleashed quite a string of expletives, and the poor stagehand never got the autograph. I cannot recall the name of the stagehand.

Ed Wood was directed by Tim Burton and starred Johnny Depp as bargain budget filmmaker Ed Wood, best known for Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959).

I have been a fan of Ed Wood since its release. While it may not be completely accurate, the film is still a wonderfully nostalgic look at the seedier side of 1950s Hollywood, and the friendship that developed between Ed Wood and Bela Lugosi. Johnny Depp and Martin Landau are both superb in their respective roles.

Yo,Tim...that stagehand thing in Ed Wood drove me nuts for a couple days since I saw the guy on watching Ed Wood and then recalled him in a Seinfeld episode. It's one of those kinda things that bug ya...but some checking on web sites revealed his name. He apparently played in a lot of parts but for the "extra credit" thing here, he is actor: Brent Hinkley who apparently played a Conrad Brooks, the guy who asked for Lugosi's autograph and got verbally blasted for calling him "sidekick" to Karloff. Also, just FYI, a few days plus or minus, I saw him in the Seinfeld episode! Turns out it was #162 from 1997 where Elaine gave him Tic Tacs. He played a Lou Filerman in Peterson's office. Well, for what it's worth. Thought I'd just mention it.

Hey Officer Torch,

I didn't know, or had forgotten, that the stagehand character who set Lugosi off was Conrad Brooks. The real Conrad Brooks appeared in a number of Ed Wood movies, including Glen or Glenda, Bride of the Monster and Plan 9 from Outer Space. He is still around today.

I have heard that Plan 9 from Outer Space was mentioned in at least one episode of Seinfeld, although I have not seen it.

Of course I didn't know the guy who played Conrad Brooks (Brent Hinkley) in the 1994 Ed Wood film was also in a Seinfeld, as I am not as well-versed in the Seinfeld series as I should be. There seems to be a few connections between Plan 9 and Seinfeld, which is pretty bizarre if you think about it, lol.
