The subject over breakfast was the busy type work that would fill most of this week. Doctor appointments and mostly normal things would take most of their time. Even though the SECNAV was very interested in “Golden Net” results he had reframed from making Sarah’s life miserable because he knew it would take time for data to reveal the truth. They playfully made a detailed list of times that were to be reserved for just the two of them.
Harm’s Office

Harm and Sarah had earlier enjoyed a call re-living some of the best parts of her birthday party of yesterday. During the conversation they agreed that Harm should follow up with Bethesda again about Mattie. Harm confirmed that since her transfer to Bethesda on Sunday, 7 August, many tests had been conducted and her current condition was as the Hospital in Blacksburg had stated. The current prognosis was that regaining feeling and use of her limbs would be a slow methodical process but her general health was improving.
A target date of 11 September was being used for the initial move if the logistics of such a move could be accomplished. Mattie would need monitoring during the flight and the best method was for her to fly the return trip in a C-141 that had just brought wounded and dead to Andrews from the Iraq conflict. Doctors and nurses manned that flight to the U.S. and usually dead-headed back to Germany. She could have great supervision and care. It would be likely that she would remain in the military hospital in Germany until a second flight could be arranged to bring her to Northside Military Hospital here in London. It sounded like as good a plan as they had heard.

Shrinks Office
Dr. Phillips spoke privately to Sarah first for 20 minutes and then about 20 minutes with Harm. She had tried to locate sore or trouble spots with each with no luck. She heard the story of Mattie’s possible move from both and was impressed with their love and loyalty to the teenager. She found that getting pregnant was important to both of them. She asked more questions, after both came back in the room together, about the baby thing. After finding their concerns normal, she was sure that they were reacting like every young couple wanting a child.
Her advice to them included the fact of averages. On average it takes one year to become pregnant. For some it happens the first month and for some it takes two years, therefore the average of 1 year. Relax and enjoy each other and this time in life as much as you can. Let nature take its course. Two strong people could make this work naturally if it was meant to be. If after a year, they felt it was not working then other means might need to be explored. She felt that every couple should take at least a year to cement their relationship against the storms that might come with time.
Her final report would say that she found these two delightful people very much in love and “normal”. She concluded that their consummated love had cauterized and cleansed their joined hearts and made their path straight and clear.
Even though they would never read the final report, they were pleased this was finally over. Their superiors would now be pleased and they understood that “command” brought with it some extra requirements.
USS Kearsarge, underway

In response to the rockets being fired on the USS Kearsarge and the USS Ashland in Aqaba, Jordon, Harm had assigned two attorneys, Lieutenants, to a JAGman investigation and had accompanied them by chopper to the deck of the Kearsarge. After arrival, Harm and the team requested a meeting with the ship’s captain about the episode. After hearing the captain’s comments, Harm requested permission to leave the JAGman team aboard for a few days so interviews could be completed. Since neither of the ships had been hit, it would be rather routine. All being OK, Harm made his way back to the chopper to get back to London.
Upon arrival back in London, Harm heard that several people had been arrested in Aqaba. The Abdullah Azzam Brigades, an Al Qiada linked group, had said in an internet statement that its fighters had fired the Katyushas rockets. State TV reported police had found four more rockets when they seized the launchers in a warehouse in the industrial zone on a hillside overlooking Aqaba. The FBI and other US counterterrorism authorities ware working closely with the Jordanian government.
Lucinda’s Italian Restaurant

This special evening for Bud and Harriett had been planned by Sarah since Wednesday after the meeting with the shrink. In the 10 days since Bud had started his duty here, Harriett had located a 16 year old baby sitter that lived close by in the compound and this was to be their first night out. For security reasons, PO Alverez used the limo to carry Harm, Sarah, Bud and Harriett to Lucinda’s Italian restaurant where they had been with Top and Jennifer. The meal was superb and they enjoyed being with their friends. A lot happened in the past 3 months in the lives of these grateful people. In reality, it was a wonder that Harm made it back from Aqaba in time to be there. The conversation finally got around to the meetings with the shrink and the fact that Bud and Harriett would also need to go through it. Harm gave him the phone number to call and make their first appointment. Everyone shared the excitement and challenge of what the next couple of years in London would bring.

Harm met with Master Chief Manual and requested he acquire 2 more high back barrel chairs like they now had four of in the kitchen/snack area. Some mornings it was comfortable for either or all, Harm, Sarah, and Kate to have breakfast in the same area as the stewards had theirs and there was not enough chairs for everyone. This always cemented good relations when it was needed. The Rabb family now seemed to be six people in strength.

Today was the first day that Bud had taken over the duty of assigning cases and delegating workload. He had spent the majority of his time while here reading about and interviewing the different attorneys to try to understand what teams worked well together and what experience levels he had to choose from. Harm had just completed that same exercise only a couple of weeks earlier and didn’t know them much better than Bud. Harm sat in the meetings to assure himself that Bud had everything under control. Harm could already tell that the political part of his job would make Bud take up more of the slack in everyday work that needed to be done. Bud was going to make a good Chief of Staff.

Sarah and Kate constantly monitored the way “Golden Net” was progressing. A huge amount of data had been collected and refined by MacDill and the other data centers. As anomalies started to appear, Sarah had Mac detail different people in the marine contingent to do follow up work. They were doing the legwork necessary to answer some of the riddles. It looked as if this same type of work would be the norm for the next couple of weeks.

State had arranged through SECNAV, and General Cresswell for Captain Rabb to represent the U.S. at this meeting today. Zambia had deported Haroon Rashid Aswat, a suspected Al Qaida operative, to Britain on Sunday, 21 August, and was immediately arrested on U.S. warrants alleging that he helped plan a terrorist training camp in Oregon in 1999. Harm was there to make sure everything was handled legally for the U.S. and to protect the warrant. The British had no intention of releasing him to the U.S. at this time since they knew he was from the same area in central England as several of the July 7 bombers of the London Transit System that killed 56 people and wounded over 700. They were sure they could tie him to the bombers by his cell phone records. After everything was found in order, Harm turned the political process over to the people from the U.S. Consulate. Harm was pleased that he had set up a line of communication with Mr. Willow of Scotland Yard, and Mr. Graves and Mrs. Green of the U.S. Consulate.

Harm and Sarah had learned to work around the “Cresswell Wall” quite well. Almost anything that could be thought of had been tried at least once and they found how to “live with it.” They found the plastic sheet to still be a bummer and they definitely were going to do away with that at the end of the 6 weeks. The requirement to be creative had paid large dividends.

PO Manny Alverez was in the limo, outside of the main gate, when Top’s Paris friend, Mr. Gromley, arrived. After the pleasantries, Alverez followed Mr. Gromley to the local police training area that had been reserved for their driving training. They spent the majority of the day learning and rehearsing many different driving methods and evasive maneuvers which might be necessary in evading capture. The remainder of the day was devoted to teaching Alverez to create a more comfortable and consistent ride for his passengers. The day ended with agreement by Mr. Gromley that PO Alverez could handle about any emergency situation that might be foreseen.

Sarah was a bit concerned that she had not heard from her Gynecologist, Dr. Lacy Simms. She decided since it had been more than a month since they talked last, she would make a call.
(phone ringing)

(S) Yes, this is Colonel Sarah Rabb calling and I need to find when I can see Dr. Simms.
Hold for me please.
(Dr. Simms) Thanks for calling Sarah. I haven’t forgotten you. I just this weekend received the last of the information from Bethesda. I have looked it all over and I need to see you as soon as possible. I believe I have good news. How soon can I see you?
(S) I can be there later today or tomorrow. When would you prefer? Should my husband come with me or it too early for that?
(Dr. Simms) Can you come in at 09:00 tomorrow morning before I start rounds? I have a patient I want you to meet who shares your problem. Why don’t we talk about this before causing your husband to take a day off work.
(S) I will be there at 09:00. Thank you.
As Sarah hung up the phone she let out a sigh of relief. She might now get some answers to this helpless feeling. Harm had tried so many times to assure her that it wasn’t a big deal but she still ached inside because a dream of theirs was not being fulfilled.
Sarah made a call to Harm and told him what she had done. Harm was glad that she was able to move this along since he knew it would give her some peace about their problem.

(H) Great Admiral. How are you? Its only 09:00, where are you?
(AJ) I am visiting my daughter here in Italy and wonder if you could put me up a few days if I dropped over to London to see you guys?
(H) Any time. You just say the word. Call me again when you know what day you will be coming so we can meet you. It will be good to see you.
(AJ) I will. My number here is 771-011-43356 if you need me. Thanks for the invite and I am looking forward to seeing you both. Thanks again. Bye.
Norhside Military Hospital

Sarah had been there since 08:40 waiting for her appointment. When the office opened, Sarah was immediately met by Dr. Simms who asked her to accompany on rounds. The second patient seen was Bonnie Rich who shared the same problem with Sarah. Dr. Simms explained what procedure Bonnie was to undergo. Bonnie felt better knowing others had the same problem. Sarah and Bonnie compared notes about not being able to get pregnant and how she felt. Dr. Simms said that she was going to do the invitro procedure for Bonnie just like Harm had asked about. After rounds were over, Dr. Simms sat with Sarah for a while explaining what she wanted to do. She would do the new procedure that she explained about and at the end would insert 3 of Harm and Sarah’s fertilized eggs. This she felt would have a good chance of success. If not, conception might happen later in a natural way.
(S) When would you want to do this?
(Dr. Simms) This will require some preparation. We will need to collect your eggs and get in sync with your cycle. I would imagine late September. Have you had your time yet this month.
(S) No. It is due any day.
(Dr. Simms) Please call my nurse after that happens. I will call you with details after we figure out when we can.
(S) Thanks doctor, I will call back. Bye
After leaving the hospital, Sarah made a quick call to Harm about what she had just been told. Even though a definite date had not been set, she was happy and excited but also made sure he knew that it might not work. All of these feeling seem to contradict one another but at least the Rabb family had much to look forward too. Well, if it didn’t work now, they would just have to practice more.
