Part 7 Title: JUST ONE DAY

Ship ARABIAN STAR
Berth 19
Monday, 29 August, 05
08:00 Hrs

(First Mate) What do we have here?

(Second Mate) A 20 year old Virgin named Mary. Or at least she was Friday before Randy at The Blue Moon finished with her. I bought her for $10,000 yesterday and I can tell you she feels like a virgin. We should get at least $70,000 for her at the sale in Jakarta. .

(First Mate) Will someone be looking for her?

(Second Mate) Randy does not think so. She was one of his regulars for the touchy-feely routine but always came alone. She would always put $ 5 to $15 in his belt and he would get her off by his routine. She would never spring for the $50 fee for the real thing. When she came to the club last Friday, he laced her drink with that date-rape drug. He had sex with her when she was ready and found she was a virgin. He kept her doped up at his place Saturday and did her several more times. He called me Saturday evening and made me the offer. That Sheik Khalefa has been after me to get him a virgin for forever and it ought to be worth at least $70,000 to him.

(First Mate) Is she on some kind of birth control?

(Second Mate) I don’t know. Most virgins would not be.

(First Mate) Call someone and get her some pills. We could get ourselves killed if we sold her pregnant. You can’t put her with the rest of the girls because the crew has been enjoying them. Lock her in my cabin until we get her on pills. We will keep this one just between you and me. Can you make sure she eats and showers without anyone finding out?

(Second Mate) I will take care of her real good.

08:00 Hrs

(Phone ringing)

Captain Rabb!

(Top) Top here. I have a major problem and need your and the Colonel’s help.

(H) What’s up Top?

(Top) One of my female marines is missing. PFC Mary Newman stood her watch from 10:00 to 18:00 on Friday, had the weekend off, but did not show for her watch at 04:00 this morning. It is not like her because she is one of my best. She is always up to the job. Can we ask the Colonel to help with that system of hers? She did impress me with what it could do.

(H) Let me get her to the phone.

(S) Harm said you have a missing female marine. Is that right Top?

(Top) Yes ma’am. She stood her watch on Friday without a problem. Could you run a movie on her like you said you could on anyone so I can find where she is? She must be in trouble.

(S) Yes, call back to the number I gave you before and give her full name to Lt. Graves and she will get that going. I need to make a few calls and I will call you back.

(Top) Thanks. I’ll owe you one. Bye.

(S) Harm, I am going to clear this with SECNAV so we don’t get you in trouble. He might see this as corrective action. There is also the matter of who goes in for her if she is in trouble. We don’t want to make our host country mad at us.

(H) Great idea. Let’s do it by the numbers.

Sarah dials the phone to the direct line of the SECNAV at home. He will not be happy but this is more important.

(phone ringing)

(SECNAV) Yea. Who is this?

(S) This is Colonel Rabb, sir, and we might have a big problem. I need decisions from you.

(SECNAV) Do you know what time it is? Couldn’t this wait?

(S) No, sir. Acton is required immediately and I need your clearance and approval.

(SECNAV) Let’s have it. This better be good.

(S) A female marine in the security detachment here in the compound has not been heard from since she got off duty Friday. This is not like her because she takes her duty to heart. With your permission, I can use Golden Net to find where she has been since Friday and her exact location now. I suspect we will find she is in trouble, sir.

This might appear that we are taking corrective action before being allowed to do so, that is your first decision. I personally think this is important enough to transcend the original no-action decision. Secondly, if we find she is in trouble and needs rescuing, who do you want to do it? It would appear we have several options like a Seal team, a quick response team from the security detachment, a team from the 200 marines I have in Golden Net, and lastly a joint team from Scotland Yard and the detachment. If there are locals involved, it might play better if Scotland Yard is involved.

(SECNAV) Use Golden Net anyway you need to Colonel. Get our marine back. After you get answers back from the computer, call me back about what to do. Let’s make sure she isn’t in sickbay or something like that.

(S) Yes sir. I will do that and you will be kept in the loop. Thank you, sir. Bye.

Sarah went upstairs to the library to find Kate working quickly to segregate Mary’s ID from the first selection. Within 15 minutes, a movie presentation is reconstructed from 17:00 Friday through the past 5 minutes. Finding that most of Mary’s time was spent at 5 locations, Sarah called Mac and had her detail 4 marines to the 4 known GPS readings other than the detachment. Within a matter of minutes, the first GPS location was found to be the security detachment office, and the second the Blue Moon club. The third and forth to addresses of locals and the fifth to be Berth 19 at the waterfront. This is where she is currently. Her vitals were ok but ragged. A quick phone call to the port authority found that the ship named ARABIAN STAR was there and was set to sail on Wednesday morning. Sarah ask Mac to get every bit of information possible on the two locals where Mary had spent time.

(making phone call)

(SECNAV) Good morning Colonel.

(S) Golden Net located her alive at a ship at Berth 19 here in London. Since she would not have reason to be there, I think she is in trouble. Have you formulated a response that would please everyone politically?

(SECNAV) The best all around solution should involve the English. Get Harm involved since he made friends with Mr. Willow at Scotland Yards. If it is to be a Joint response team, I want you to lead our contingent and you can pick who you want to do it. We have a Seal Team on standby if you need them. Keep me advised.

(S) Yes sir. I will keep you informed. Bye.

Sarah discussed the SECNAV phone call with Harm and asked him to make the call to Mr. Willow at Scotland Yard as she called Top.

(making phone call)

Scotland Yard!

(H) This Captain Rabb of the U.S. Navy calling for Mr. Willow. Is he in?

I will let him know you are on the line.

(Mr. Willow) Captain Rabb, thank you for helping out the other day. What can I do for you now ?

(H) We have an emergency here and I need your help. One of our female marines has been abducted. Due to the sensitive nature of her work, we have a way of knowing where she is at all times. She is alive but under stress. We know where she spent her time since she got off duty and where she is right now. We know of no good reason why she would be where she is without her being in big trouble. Even though we have strike capability to take care of such problems, we would rather join you in a joint effort to address this problem since this might involve some of your local citizens.

(Mr. Willow) We have a major quick response capability for these type things. Before we do, why don’t we meet and plan this out.

(H) Can we meet you in your office as quickly as we can get there? I will be bringing the Marine Colonel who will be in charge of our response team for you to meet.

(Mr. Willow) I will be waiting. Bye

(H) Manny, get the car ready. We are gong to Scotland Yard. Sarah, I have the meeting set up for right away for you to meet Mr. Willow and plan this out. Did you get to talk to Top?

(S) Yes. He wants to use his team to help rescue her. Although, he did say he would defer to my better judgment. We could still call in the seal team if the outcome would be better. They are not really known for being part of someone else’s team.
.
(H) Lets go!

It took almost 30 minutes to arrive and be escorted to Mr. Willow’s waiting room.

(Sec) Mr. Willow can see you now.

(H) Thank you for helping out. I want to introduce you to Marine Colonel Sarah Rabb, who is also my wife. She is on special assignment right now but will be in command of our response team contingent in this joint effort.

(Mr. Willow) This is a surprise. I should have expected that you would be married to someone so beautiful and with such command presence.

(S) Thank you. Before marriage, the Captain and I were partners for 9 years and work very well together. As Harm may have explained, I have access to different types of assault teams and would want to choose the type of asset that would compliment your quick response team. We are worried for Mary’s safety.

(Mr. Willow) Exactly where is she now?

(S) She is in a ship named ARABIAN STAR at Berth 19 at the pier. Since we don’t know of any reason for her being there, we have to assume she is in trouble.

(Mr. Willow) Even though we have the forces to storm the ship in day light, we might get her killed in the process. The cover of darkness would be much better and may save lives. Why don’t I station a few of my men there undercover right now just to watch over things for the remainder of the day. We will take a joint team there after dark. How does that sound?

(S) How large a team do you want and where do you want to join?

(Mr. Willow) Since your marine is there, there is a likelihood of more being held. The ship has a total crew of 27 so our team should be at least 36. Since my teams are 20 each, can you bring the other 16?

(S) Yes. Our team will also include a couple of corpsmen just is case of the need.

(Mr. Willow) Have your team at the corner of Rose and Spruce in nondescript vehicles at 12:15 am and we will join up for last orders. Since we are going to be in close quarters, all weapons should be shorter barrel length and silencers might help. Do not discuss the facts of this operation with anyone other than trusted comrades before the time of our meeting. If you find out anything more call me, and if not we will see your team at 12:15.

(S) We will be there. Here is my card with my secure line number. Call me if anything changes or if we need to respond. Thanks.

Sarah and Harm made their way out of the building and back to Manny at the awaiting car. Since calls had to be made quickly, Manny sealed up the car and turned the jamming equipment on. Sarah used her secure phone to call Top first for him to select an assault team with two corpsmen for assemble at 23:00 Hrs. She told him about choice of weapons, etc. The team should be on call as of right now in case something goes wrong.

Sarah’s next call was to SECNAV. She got the authority and all information necessary to use the seal team as backup. She made the call and gave orders that the seal team be in place close to Berth 19 at time of darkness to watch the water side of this ship ARABIAN STAR. She didn’t know why but wanted to be ready in case the crew was tipped off and decided to take their prisoners and run early. She gave them all information that was important.

Sarah called Mac and found that the third place Mary had spent time was at the flat of Randy Schenski who was a Male stripper at the Blue Moon club. She had been there from Friday night through Saturday evening. The forth place was found to be the home on George Smith who just so happened to be the 2nd mate on the ship ARABIAN STAR. She had spent Saturday evening through Sunday there. After discussing everything, Sarah had Mac fax all addresses and information about the third and forth place to both Sarah and Mr. Willow at Scotland Yard.

18:00 Hrs

(phone ringing)

Colonel Rabb!

(Mr. Willow) Colonel, my undercover people on the docks started to notice delivery of food, fresh vegetables, and frozen items to the ship this afternoon. This is usually done within hours of leaving and I am guessing they are probably going to try to leave tonight. The number of watches was increased later today and they seem to be on alert. The increased watches will make the two gangways into “killing fields” if we do it like we planned. You said you have other assets. Do you have a suggestion on how we can take care of this situation?

(S) Yes, Mr. Willow, I do. Darkness is at 07:45 PM. Could your team be at the joining area at 8:15 PM? If so, my team will be there also.

(Mr. Willow) Yes, we can move the schedule up.

(S) With your permission I will activate another asset to board the vessel and pacify the personnel. On their signal, our strike team can then take control of the situation and rescue Mary and whoever else may be there. Are you OK with that?

(Mr. Willow) Yes. Do I need to know what asset this is?

(S) Not really sir. Let’s just say they don’t play well with other children if you get my drift.

(Mr. Willow) I will have our team at the join up site at 8:15 PM.

(S) Thanks. Did you receive a fax with the particulars on the places where Mary spent time Friday, Saturday and Sunday?

(Mr. Willow) Yes. What was that all about?

(S) If we find foul play to have happened as I suspect, the 2nd mate, George Smith will need to be detained since his address is where Mary was being held Saturday evening and Sunday. The second duty for the strike team will be to overwhelm the address for Randy Schenski and bring him to justice. I imagine he was the instigator of this. Please review all the addresses so evidence can be taken during the apprehension. I am sure Mary will press charges against them. Please call me again if anything else happens. I will set this in motion. Bye

Sarah made a call to Top to move up the muster to 19:00 with a meeting at the join up point at 20:15 Hrs

Sarah made a quick call to the Seal unit and explained the change of work assignment.
The Seal team was to come over the water side of the ship as soon as darkness allowed. All members of the ships crew who were taking an offensive posture were to be subdued by any means necessary and others placed in confinement. As soon as it was safe for the strike team to approach the gangways, a call was to be made to the Colonel’s secure phone so the team could come aboard. Once the Strike team was in control, the Seal Team was to vanish. Since Scotland Yard was to be part of the team, they would be made to look good if possible. We, after all, were on their turf.

Sarah quickly changed in to her all black ninja outfit with one black eagle on the right collar. She carried her blued 9-mm, which Harm had bought her, in its holster under her left arm. She had the look of “bad” about her. She drove over and joined Top’s team as it was ready to go to the join up site. She received a call from the seal team as darkness approached asking for last minute changes. Everything was a “Go”.

As the Seal team started its strike, the Seal commander went “open mic” to Sarah’s secure radio. Both Scotland Yard and Top’s team joined and drove to within ¼ mile of the berth and stopped to wait. A lot of yelling, gunfire, and other sounds came from the radio. After about 25 minutes, the Seal commander told Sarah that the teams could come aboard. All of the vehicles converged on the two gangways and the teams unloaded running up the gangways to no resistance at all. The Seal Commander, dressed all in black, met Sarah and Mr. Willow at the top and told them where to find Mary and the rest of the slaves and where the crew was being held. The joint strike team went about securing the situation as the other “men in black” faded into the black of the night just as they had come.

They found Mary locked in the 1st mate’s stateroom and quickly set her free. She pointed out George Smith as the 1st mate and told of how he had repeatedly raped her. He was led away in shackles. She told of the way Randy Schenski had taken advantage of her and how he also had repeatedly raped her. The team located where the other 19 girls were being held. They all told of the way they had been taken as slaves to be sold. All of the girls were taken down to a bus that had arrived to take them to Scotland Yard for debriefing and to get sworn statements so cases could be made and charges filed.

The only difference in Mary’s case was that a certain Navy Captain Lawyer was waiting in his Lexus at the bottom of the gangway to take her and be with her at Scotland Yard. He wanted to make sure no stone was left unturned and the prosecution was assured.

The total crew of the ship was detained. The injured were treated but still went to jail. The ship was locked down and would be forfeited for dealing in the slave trade.
The next order of business was storming the flat of Randy Schenski. The whole joint team was pumped and converged on the apartment building. The door was opened by the super and since Randy was not there, it was cordoned off as a crime scene. . Since Mary’s rape had occurred in the apartment, a forensic team was called in to gather evidence.

The Joint team then converged on the Blue Moon club. Top’s team set up a parameter about the club as the Scotland Yard team went in and physically drug him out of the club. They read him a few of the charges brought against him and immediately took him to the jail at Scotland Yard. Mr. Willow was very happy that the slaves were to be free and his unit would receive most of the credit. It would play better that way since the U.S. taking up arms in a friendly country might sound a little “over the top.” Sarah received his thanks and she made sure that he knew how thankful she was to have Mary back alive.

Top’s team dressed down and boarded vehicles back to the compound. Harm had brought a couple cases of beer and left them for the team. That hit the spot since adrenaline had been what they had been running on. Just another day.

Sarah arrived home and then realized that Harm would be spending most of the night with Mary in debrief. It was great that he was there but she would rather have him home to take care of her. The wink he had given her at the bottom of the gangway had told her how proud he was of her and that was worth more than about anything else. She felt she had to be the luckiest wife alive.
