I have lost 3 L.P. jobs in the past 8 years because although the store has policy regarding how to handle a shoplifter, I too have policies since it's "my life" that is at risk.

I search [pat down] ever male lifter for weapons outside of the store before bringing him in so the store. If they refuse the pat down then they are cuffed. Even after all of that has been done and the lifter is being escourted to the L.P. office, he/she is ordered to keep thier hand at their sides. If a lifter decides to reach into his pocket or her purse, the will be warned loudly ONE TIME and they have about 2 seconds to comply. If the fail to comply, they will hit the floor with all 232 pounds of my weight so fucking fast that won't know weather to shit or go fucking sailing.

That's my rule and I've only had to do it 6 time in 10 years
causing me 3 different jobs. On 2 of those 6 times the lifter was reaching for a loaded 22 automatic, and another was reaching for a handcuff key taped on the back inside part of his belt.

In 1997, I have no doubt that the lifter with the 22 planned to kill me either in the hallway or inside the LP office. Do you think that I give a fuck that I lost a $13.00 an hour job? I had and new job 9 days later.
