I don't think that there is a retailer out there, at least I hope not that means "hands off no matter what" It even aggrivates me when they "the retailer" say that you "have a right to defend yourself" . Gee thanks, but I think that its more of a natural instinct of the human psychie then some "right" that had been graciously granted to me by my employer. I've taken a punch whil walking backwards towards the store tell the lifter to just leave but he kept coming towards me and even into the vestibule. While still walking backwards with my hands up like I was being robbbed I contimed to walk backwards at which point he tore off his shirt and charged me. In fell in full view of the camera I struck him once, and he was dazed but continued to attempt an assult on my person. I struck him twice in a "one-two" fashion to the face and put him to sleep right there on the floor breaking his nose and fracturing his jaw.

It was all on video. not him hitting me outside, but what occured in the vestuable. The police said to the MOD that I did more then I should have to defuse the situation. The MOD told the cop that she though I should Have just turned and walked away. His response to here was . "Are you serious lady, the guy had a 5" buck nife in his pocket, your LP guy would be laying right where you're standing. He asked her for her supervisors name and I could tell she was freaked. The cop made it clear to her that "YOU NEVER TURN YOUR BACK ON A VIOLENT SUSPECT- EVER!" Your LP guys knows what hes doing."

She called the LPDM at home while I was doing paper with the cops. He called and told me that the manager was going to talk to me after the cops left. She came to apologize and even kind of cried. That shocked me more then the incident in its self. I have the upmost respect for people who can standup and admit when they are wrong.

About a year later she left the company to be a GM at a much bigger retailer and gave me a call to be her LPM. My interview with her HR director was about 10 minutes long and I started 3 days later when my drug screen results cleared/
