Bright House Customer Information

October 3, 2008

Dear Bright House Networks subscriber,

Bright House Networks' contract to carry WISH-TV, MyNDY, WIIH and LWS on its cable system has expired, and Bright House Networks no longer has the right to carry our programming.

Please know that we have tried for several months to reach an agreement, so that our viewers would not have to miss any of our around-the-clock reporting of news, politics, traffic, weather emergencies, and public service announcements.

We are disappointed in the outcome of our negotiations with Bright House Networks, especially since we have successfully reached deals with every major cable, satellite and telecommunications company who recognize our fair market value. Without fair and equitable treatment, local TV stations will not be able to continue to provide top quality news, sports, entertainment, and other local programming that is most important to you.

We will continue to negotiate with Bright House Networks. Unfortunately, we do not know if, or when, we will reach an agreement.

We thank you for your tremendous support throughout this dispute. We have received thousands of emails and phone call from viewers who understand our position and are willing to stand by our side.

We hope you will continue supporting local television and watch WISH-TV, MyNDY, WIIH and LWS through alternative means. Below are your options:

There are several ways you can continue to get our programming. You can also switch to DISH and receive a $50 incentive. Their phone number is 1-888-DISH-950.

AT&T is available in some areas of Central Indiana. Their phone number is 1-800-PICK-ATT.

Don't forget, you can always use an antenna. WISH-TV, MyNDY, WIIH and LWS broadcasts in both standard analog format and in digital HDTV format. Most viewers will simply need a switch to be able to watch completely for free using an over-the-air antenna.

Thank you,
Jeff White
President and General Manager

Bright House Networks is working hard to get WISH-TV, WNDY, WIIH, LWS, and, WANE-TV back in our channel lineup.

LIN TV Corporation has pulled these signals from your lineup.

WISH-TV, WNDY, WIIH, LWS, and WANE-TV removed its signal from the Bright House Networks channel lineup at midnight October 2, after refusing to grant an extension that would allow Bright House Networks to continue to broadcast the channels while negotiations continue.

"We offered to work through the night to reach an agreement, and WISH-TV, WNDY, WIIH, LWS, and WANE-TV refused,” said Buz Nesbit. “They showed little regard for their viewers and advertisers, and our customers, in their preference to remove the channel rather than work toward resolution.”

Nesbit continued: “Despite acknowledging progress in the negotiations, WISH-TV, WNDY, WIIH, LWS, and WANE-TV took the extreme step of removing its signal, depriving Bright House Networks customers of the CBS programming they enjoy. We asked for a very short extension to complete negotiations, but it was LIN TV Corporation's preference to pull their signal off the air.”

Without express permission, Bright House Networks cannot legally provide CBS to its cable customers. In exchange for that permission, WISH-TV, WNDY, WIIH, LWS, and WANE-TV, along with other LIN TV stations across the country, is demanding that Bright House Networks customers pay a monthly fee to watch programming that is free to all Americans, simply by using an antenna. Bright House Networks believes that WISH-TV, WNDY, WIIH, LWS, and WANE-TV is fairly and adequately compensated for its channel with the clear reception and extended advertising audience that the station enjoys by being on Bright House Networks channel lineup.

“LIN TV already makes millions of dollars in additional advertising revenue as a direct result of being on Bright House Networks,” Nesbit said. “Demanding more is just plain greedy and Indianapolis deserves better.”

“We will keep negotiating on our customers’ behalf and will work to get this resolved quickly. In the meantime, customers can get a free antenna from us or watch their favorite CBS programming via the Internet.”

Ok, Im pissed off because the next 6 Colts games, including the one yesterday, I cannot watch because they are on CBS. Not to mention, Ghost Whisperer, CSI Miami, Two and a half men, Survivor, Big Brother, and others, that I do actually watch. I think this is all Brighthouses, fault, and when asked, if antenna would work, they said no, the signal isnt strong enough to get unless have an outside tower, which we do not since we have cable..duh!!!!! And with going to digital state wide in Feb, antenna wouldnt work anyway. Brighthouse defended themselves to me on the phone, and said they did not want to charge the customer the extra $1 a month to get CBS...OMG!! Just $1???? I would gladly pay that per month to get my Colts games, as well as all the other programs I watch on that channel, but we were not given the choice...I am checking in to satellite today.
