AT our 1st pageant Chloe was 4 weeks old and we bought a large basket like an easter basket, put her in it with cushion blankets in the bottom and put her dress out around her and I held it up so they could see her, she won. This helped support her neck and she was very comfortable. We did one more pageant like that at 6 weeks old and she won. Good luck.
