Lost Chapter 3

Somewhere in Afghanistan

Webb was angry. He wanted to smack the General standing in front of him. He had been working like a hero to find Mac and her fellow Marines just to have a two star General doubt the information he had gathered.

“Agent Webb, that prison have been empty for a long time. We emptied it just after we got here because the activities there affected the village negatively,” General Carter said.

“I've talked to the villagers and it's definetly some activity there. I also have information that suggest that Colonel Mackenzie and the rest of the missing Marines have been kept there,” Webb argued. “What is the most disturbing is that informants keep telling me that something big is coming up, something that will directly hit your troops.”

“So you think I should send my men over there to look?” The General asked.

“Absolutely,” Webb barked.

“The last time we had to deal with the CIA we killed twelve innocent people,” The General yelled.

“But you also captured and killed important members of the Taliban too. People die when there's a war. It's part of the game. If you can't deal with that I suggest you retire.”

“You have some nerve!” The General was still yelling. He turned around and walked away from Webb.

“So you''ll check out the prison then?” Webb yelled after him.

Inside the prison

Mac wasn't feeling great. She knew it was because she hadn't eaten anything the last 63 hours. At least they had water.

“Your husband must be worried about you, Mac,” JJ said.

“I don't have a husband,” Mac replied.

“Oh, boyfriend then,” JJ said. “I'm glad I didn't leave anyone behind. But I guess my folks are pretty worried.”

“Harm must be going crazy by now. I just hope he haven't done anything stupid, like jumping on an airplane to come look for me,” Mac said.

“He must care about you a lot,” JJ said. “Marine?”

“Navy,” Mac said with a smile. “We work together at JAG. He's my closest friend. I actually followed him to Russia once to help him find his father who was MIA. We tend to follow each other to hell and back.”
“Sounds like you're not just a paper pusher then, Colonel,” JJ teased.

Mac chuckled. “If you only knew...”

They hurried to their feet as the doors were pushed open with a bang and three men came barging in. They opened the gate and two of the men were ordered to grab Mac.

“What the hell?” JJ yelled as Mac was dragged out of the cell and down the hall.

Mac knew what was going on. She had felt the man's eyes on her the times he'd been by the cell. This guy had looked at her with lust, and she knew what he wanted. This was it. This was the chance they had of getting out of there. She used the two men that was holding her to get enough power to kick the man in front of her in the face. She put her elbow into the face of one of the men that held her and turned to kick the other as he let go of her to help his boss. Again she kicked the man closest to her and took his gun as he hit the floor. She turned around in time to shoot the two other men.

“Colonel, what is going on?” she heard JJ call from the cell.

In cold blood she shot the last man, before she gathered all their guns and ammunition and ran back to the cell with the key she found on one of the men.

“We have to get out of here. Harry, you help JJ. Jack, you and I go first. Don't think, just shoot,” she ordered and gave them each a weapon. Thankfully the men had been heavily armed when they came to get her, this way they had a chance of shooting their way out.

JAG Headquarters

Harm had been home for a few hours to get a clean uniform and check his mail. While he'd been there he'd been reminded of his last dinner with Mac. The atmosphere had been good, and they had both flirted openly with the other. They hadn't said anything direct, but they both wanted to.

“Look at this, Harm,” Sturgis pointed to the TV.

“In Afghanistan troops are still out looking for the four Marines that disappeared after a bombing six days ago. There have been several new leads, but General Carter wouldn't share much when we interviewed him earlier today.”

The screen showed pictures of Mac and the other missing Marines. Then the picture shifted to General Carter that shortly mumbled something about not being able to tell anything new at this point, but that there were several leads to work on.

“Have you heard something more from Webb?”

Harm shook his head. “I'm sure he's busy.”

Just then the Admiral joined them. “My office Rabb.”

Harm followed his boss anxious to hear what he had to say.

“Harm, I have some news about Mac.”
