I do not allow food or drinks because the equipment is expensive and I am reponsible for the damages. I'm also resonsible for cleaning up the mess. So the blacks make sure they crank up the rap music, their cell phones ring constantly, they never go anywhere except in a group. Sometimes we have three of them to each computer causing a disturbance. The constant profanity. Everybody is sick of it and they all expect me to take care of it on my own. I always have in the past. One incident was where this girl was playing rap music loud. I asked her to turn it off or sign out a set of head phones. She made the remark that we just don't like their kind of music. I responded that my personal views had nothing to do with it. So after about 5 or six times of this ordeal in one hour with this girl, I had enough. I told her "Off or Out." She replies, "It wasn't even rap music." I told her I didn't care if it was Mozart, "Mute." I even went as far as spelling the word for her. She reported the incident as racially motivated. They assured her that they would have a talk with me. I explained the situation to the coordinator. He said that I needed to be more diplomatic and make concessions for that group because they are trying to get a rise out of me so they have something to report. He told me the next time to go get him so he could assess the situation. The problem is, he knows the situation and doesn't want to deal with it either. That night, I opened the computer cases and removed all of the speakers. Then I figured I would let them get worse and not do anything about it (following the coordinators advice). Now I may be getting somewhere. Everyone is upset and want something done. I figure if enough people get upset over it, I could definitely use the support. While you deal with trolls like Bert Mathew, picture having to deal with a dozen Berts in one place.
