Subject: Encourage your daughters to compete!

Hello everyone, I am the 2006 Miss WV Fairs and Festivals (Stacy Pudder) mother. I would just like to take the time to say that all mothers should encourage their daughters to compete in pageants. I was always totally against them because of one bad experience that I had but I won't get into that anyway. Stacy begged and pleaded with me to compete in a few local pageants as she was growing up and her experiences have been good. As a child all she wanted to be was the Mannington Fair Queen and her schools homecoming Queen. I immediately said "no" to her competing in Mannington but than we made a deal. If she got a sponsor than she could compete. She got her sponsor and competed. I helped her in anyway possible and was there for her the entire time. She went into the pageant not having much confidence in herself and complaining because her gowns and suit didn't cost as much as so and so's. I told her to do her best and make the most of this experience. She won and went onto to Charleston. She was sick the entire weekend in Charleston and cried every night because she wanted to come home. I spent the weekend with her and telling her "just do your best and it will all be over with soon". Well she won. What a difference this title has changed her. She gained confidence in herself, she is much more outgoing, very personable and the royal treatment she has received over the year has been awesome. We have met so many wonderful people and have really been treated 'special" every where we have traveled thus far. So in closing, I would like to encourage you as a mother to encourage your daughter to compete in these local pageants. The prize packages are great some with college scholarship money and the people that you will meet and the places you get to travel is the best experience that a mother and daughter can experience. I can't wait for Charleston in January. 4 days to spend with Stacy, just hanging out and talking about everything. Trust me you will not be sorry. These pageants all are well ran and are honest.
