Author: The Judges were definitely off [ Edit | View ] |
Date Posted: 09/ 4/07 11:04:19pm I would have thought that the judges would have gone for a girl with a little more intelligence and ambition, while I'm not bashing Miss Mcallen (she's really a pretty girl) I happen to know that Corpus and Dallas are college graduates while Austin Hidalgo and Grecia are all pursuing higher education. I thought for sure they were going to make up the top five with their excellent backgrounds and impeccable answers. Maybe I'm mistaken in my assumption but I always thought pageants were supposed to be about more than looks. |

Date Posted: 09/ 5/07 11:58:43am I agree. Grecia won that night in the eyes of many. There was alot of talk from where I was sittig as well. I had never seen that happen before with Belleza Latina. It was clear who the winner was. But, oh well, it is always the judges opinion that counts. I agree 100% in the Teen Division. In the Miss, Grecia surely earned alot of respect from pageant fans. Sure hope the judges see her caliber next time. To Grecia: Winston Churchill once said, "Never, ever, ever give up" |
| [> [> [> [> [> Subject: "But, oh well, it is always the judges opinion that counts" - I don' t think the judges made that mistake. They had very qualified judges and two were queens themselves! It was either the auditor that calculated it all wrong or done on purpose. We all saw it with our own eyes! | |

Author: Sorry you didn't have the right ties with this production that you do with Platinum. Get over it! [ Edit | View ] |

| [> [> [> [> [> [> Subject: This has nothing to do with "ties". At South Texas, Christina deserved a top 3 seat and didn't get it. At Belleza, Grecia deserved more than she got too. With no disrespect to the judges, the way I see it is that the audience simply wants those heartbroken contestants to know that they did a great job. Pageants are great tools for experience but they can also beat you up emotionally as well. | |

| [> [> [> [> [> [> [> [> Subject: It means exactly what I said. Sometimes contestants don't get the placement that they earned. In this case, I think the audience now has a cumulative voice and want to make sure that those girls who ended up with the short end of the stick don't feel like they were less deserving. The audience is now using forums like this to continue to cheer on those that did not get the crown or the placement that the audience thought they deserved. We're kinda like arm-chair quarterbacks during the super bowl now. Get it? None of this has anything to do with who knows who better, director's favorites or some conspiracy theory that everyone always eludes to after a pageant. click in | |

Date Posted: 09/ 7/07 6:31:16pm Some of us know the disappointing feeling of being so close yet so far away from the crown. It can be an overwhelming feeling that makes some want to never enter another pageant again. It makes other strive further into themselves to get the crown the next time. I posted on here because I saw way back from table BFE the sparkle dull in Grecia's eyes when the top five were called out adn she was excluded. Never ever speaking to Grecia before in my life, I immediately went to her after the pageant to try to relieve her of that disappointment she must have initially felt. One of my best friends had an experience like that and it traumatized her for years. That is the last thing I ever want any of you to endure. This is why I feel it is extremely important to tell people that they did an exceptional job and should be proud of themselves. I don't say that to the undeserving. If I compliment you, then you should know it comes from my heart because I don't do it often... nor often enough. |
