I think that you need to change your name from GA/FLA Rodeo Association to JUST Florida Rodeo Association. You have NO rodeos in Ga. WHY? Folks from Ga. can't participate because of the far away locations. They simply can't afford the gas to go that far!! I thought this was for the kids?! It's a shame that you are punishing the kids that want to participate because their parents can't afford the gas. I don't see why the locations can't remain the same (or close to) as the past 4 years........oh yes I do, the Kirklands live in Florida.

I am sorry you feel that way. What ultimately determines the event location is the ability of a paticular arena to support and donate to the rodeo; that support is through local sponsors/parents; all the additional money is added to the rodeo; the arena also needs to be able to support the GFYRA FAMILY (trailor parking), livestock (lots of water) and the arena set up. These facilities are found and organized mostly by parents of the GFYRA which through their help and ties to the area help make each rodeo successful. The GFYRA has and is constantly looking for these types of locations for future rodeos. We would love to have more areas in Georgia as well as Florida, if you know of any please feel free to call me at anytime to discuss scheduling a rodeo in the future, an idea or a suggestion that will help make this the best rodeo for our children. I hope this explains how the selection process works. I sincerely appreciate and will always listen to all the concerns of every GFYRA member/parent.

I can be reached on my cell phone at 352-258-8037.
Sincerely, Greg Kirkland

I would like to start my message by thanking the Kirklands for the many hours they put into the GFYRA. My family has been involved in jr. rodeo and highschool rodeo for 9 years and it has always been that the rodeos seem to change locations as the families that have the time and ability to raise the money, locate the stock and secure an adequate arena tend to change as the years pass. I will assure any family that has the time to do all of the above that GFYRA would gladly put the location on the schedule for next year. It is a job that has alot of scheduling conflicts and takes many hours of dedication before each and every rodeo. With that being said let me say THANK YOU to every familly that makes GFYRA such a great and competitive assoc..

My child has been involved in Rodeo for the past few years as well and the rodeos HAVE ALWAYS been split pretty fairly. AGAIN, the name of the association is GEORGIA/FLORIDA, not FLORIDA. I believe that's why the name GA/FL was chosen - because they intended to have rodeos in Ga. & Fl. If you don't plan to have any in Ga., change your name. When someone goes on to the internet to look up associations, well, what do they think when they see the name GA/FL? Yeap, that there are rodeos in both GA & FL. You can't tell me that there were NO adequate arenas available in Ga. No-one obviously looked (or didn't want to look in Ga.)because I know of atleast 4 in Georgia (3 of them right on the Florida Line) that would accomodate WAY MORE trailors than say Jasper. What about you Wayne, you have an arena with water and a big field to park many, many trailors, not to mention Roping Stock!
