It's ALMOST rodeo time...

The weather hasn't been the best, but I hope you guys have been able to make it to the practice pens.

I have some ideas for next weekend. Im going to ask everyone to participate in the grand entry if possible, everyone will be announced. Saturday night, we are going to have slip and slides, water balloons, and water guns. (Bring something to get wet in.)

Just heard a little bit ago that Sam Ariola, Cody's dad, passed away today. Not sure of any details, but if anyone hears anything could you please post them here.

Please pray for the family, Mr. Ariola was a very sweet man who many people knew from rodeoing way back.

Well, we are home from hospital once more as on Thursday, Stetson had a recurrent lung collapse and had to have an EMR surgery once more. It was very unexpected and we had to bring him from college and it just puts a rut in your schedule especially this time of year. But anyway, we are better and hopefully will be up and at it again. Continue us in your prayers.

In 2006 We held a Team Roping Clinic in October with the soon to be known World Champion Matt Sherwood. In December Matt took the title of the 2007 World Champion Header with a non-partner allen Bach. Matt's regular partner that year was legendary Walt Woodard. We are here once again with Matt interested in coming to share some of his knowledge and experience with Florida Team Ropers. In almost the same sutuation Matt is #2 in the standing this year, and before he takes an almost 2 month break before the NFR, Matt is coming to Florida to see us!! We are looking to put on a three(3) day clinic in October. Dates and cost will be announced. If you would like to get on a list early (and I suggest it) call me at 386-937-2131. We have been having a $10.00 a man 3HD progressive roping at our arena every other Friday Night. The next oping is Friday August 29th. Sign up @7pm rope at 8pm. It's a #10 roping, Handicap any team over a 10. Any # roper can rope. Last friday we had 127 teams, friday before that 74 teams. 1st place friday night paid out $544.00. The Gator Dawg Team (1) will be receiving their team winnings this week. I AM STILL SO PROUD OF YOU ALL! Not only for winning but for displaying great conduct and sportsmanship throughout the week. There were several that were sent home from other teams because of poor behavior.

What a great group of young adults you are! Parents, pat yourself on the back. And thanks for allowing them to be part of the Gator Dawgs! We will also be receiving a trophy and banner soon!!! Congratulations again! We brought the championship EAST for a change!! And you made it happen!

Roping horse for sale--We are selling our son's roping horse, Dolly. She is 10 years old and has been won on in junior, high school, and college rodeos. Chandon won the breakaway and tie down on her in SJRA in 2007. She will give you a shot right out of the box everytime. She has no health issues and is completely sound. Well...I am finally home. Never really had a chance to recoup from the trip and now we've been at the hospital for 5 days. No rest there either. Anyway, Stetson did have surgery on Wednesday for Pnuemothorax (Collapsed Lung) which after the surgery, the surgeon said there was no evidence of any injury. It was a spontaneous Pnuemothorax and happens most of the time to tall, thin, white males. The surgeon was able to remove a small portion of his lung and reattach the lung since it had dropped down. I appreciate all of your concerns and prayers and apologize that I have not kept you updated. When I left on Monday, we were just going for a office visit an hour away and I haven't left Brunswick until today so had no way to update everyone.
Anyway, we are home now! He has his youth on his side and should heal 100% and the chances of it happening again are only 5% whereas without the surgery it would have been 30-50%. I have learned much about the illness now even though I had never heard of it but it is pretty common according to his doctor.
I can't wait to sleep in my bed tonight and catch up on much needed rest. I apologize that I may be a little behind on everything but will get things posted and updated soon.
Again THANKS to all of you for your continued prayers! They have been a great source of comfort for all of us!!!

Stetson is having some medical problems associated with an injury he sustained over a year ago and is awaiting a chest tube placement soon. Mark and Jackie took him to the ER in Brunswick when they got home from Shawnee, and have been there since. Please lift all of them up in prayer -
Stetson is in Southeast Georgia Health System, Brunswick Campus.

The Gator Dawg Team 1 finished 3rd after the 1st round, Team 2 finished 10th. Chasey Bass won the Saddle Bronc & Chase Hudson won the Bull Riding (Round 1). Congrats to the Gator Dawg Teams for a great start!~ One more round to go. Will keep you posted. We're doing great!!!!!!!!

Well, we all made it to Shawnee. Had some rain but not it's hot as ever! The first perf was this am & Russ & Brandon got 2 & 3rd in Calf Roping. Chase Hudson won the 1st perf in Bulls with a 79. Chasey Bass won the first perf in Saddle Bronc w/ a 75 score. Laci, Casey, Amanda & Sarah, Michele were all consistent in the barrels. Ty got a 8 in Steer Wrestling. Loni was a 5 in Breakaway. This is all of the scores that saw. If anyone else has more info, please add to but overall we are doing pretty good so far! Keep it up Gator Dawgs! Will keep you posted.

Hey everybody!.......and CONGRATULATIONS to ALL OF YOU that made STATE FINALS! YES, Laci's horse wasn't able to make it up to Jax, due to a pulled muscle. IT happened the Friday morning we were getting ready to leave for Jax. I was in town fueling up the truck, getting some grocery's, etc, and Laci called me "Crying her EYES OUT"! When she went out in the pasture to get ACE up, he wasn't able to follow her. (Kevin had turned Ace out, about 45 minutes before Laci went out to get him, and Ace was Fine. This was all to WEIRD, how fast that injury happened). I got home and Ace was barely able to move his hind leg. After a visit from the Vet and all the meds, ACE was resting, and was NOT in physical shape to "compete" that weekend.
WE HATED MISSING ALL THE ACTION AT STATE FINALS!............THANKS SO VERY MUCH FOR THE CALLS OF CONCERN and also to Trina Ziglar and Lollie Chappel for "Offering Laci your horses as back-ups", so she would be able to "run on something"! You guys are THE BEST!.....However, since Ace had to be be treated morning and eve., there is NO WAY, Laci would have left him. WE APOLOGIZE SO VERY MUCH to the #16 contestant in Barrels and Poles (that COULD have gone to State Finals), but the timing was not on our side. Laci had every intention of going to Jax..............
Again...........CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERY CONTESTANT, you are INCREDIBLE! Can't wait to see ya'll! love ya's, mean it DEB:)

Remember that your FINALS PACKETS are due on MAY 10, which is coming up in the next few days! Team Ropers if you don't know who you are gonna rope with, I may be able to help. IF you will call, we can discuss (912) 496-7963.

If you are 16th in line for qualifying in any event and a contestant above you decides not to participate, then I will contact you until all 15 spots are filled.

Also, Gator Dawgs, all paperwork & money has been sent to Shawnee so now you will be receiving a packet from them to complete. I have a barrel and pole horse for sale. He has run in the GFYRA association for the last two years, he was bought for my sister and she quit riding, he has been run in NBHA and has placed in the 3d w/o being in shape or pushed. The harder you push him the tighter he turns, you just drive him in and sit up he does the rest. Asking $10,000.00 I just don't have the time to ride him and I am actually trying to buy another heel horse. We also have "Yorkie" puppies that will be ready the week of finals. Please say a prayer for Jayde Greenwoods uncle (Cherins' brother). He was in a MotorX accident last week & broke both ankles really bad. Doctors are apprehensive as to his future abilities because of its' severity. He is a Team Roper & some may know him. His name is Ricky (Layman), I believe. But please send your prayers up for him & his family.

At the last rodeo in Jasper I ran after the last drag and lost my hat. I looked for my hat after my run and later once barrels were over. Nobody seems to know where it went. I figured mostlikly someone picked it up by mistake. So if you or someone you know have a straw Resistal hat that isn't yours please let me know. Talked to KW's mom last nite & he had an appt w/ his orthepedic doctor this morn. His mom says that he doesn't have much pain or swelling right now so maybe that's a good sign! She will let me know today what the doctors say. Everyone say a prayer for him!

KW was injured at the bulldogging at Ivon Nelson's on Saturday, Ty spoke to him and apparently he broke his ankle as well as 2 bones in his leg. If anyone has anymore info that they can add to this please do so......

If you will be needing a motel for the Lake City rodeo, please go ahead & call as they get really busy this time of year. I have a rate of $62.99 @ the Red Roof Inn. It is owned by Hampton & located @ exit 427 from I-75. I have a 14 year old sorrel pony named "Snippy" for sale. I rode him last year in GFYRA while my grey mare was hurt. His specialty is poles and he runs barrels and has been goat tied off of. DONT let his size fool you. He is EXTREMELY quick on his feet. He knows his job all too well and once in the arena he runs his heart out and gives 110% until he's done. He was being ridden by a little girl in Middle Georgia Junior Rodeo and she held first in poles on his while she rode him the first half of the season. He is UTD on shots and coggins. He needs an intermediate rider. He is not a high maintenance horse. Very easy keeper. Loads, stands for farrier, ties etc. Would be great for SJRA or any other junior rodeo. Runs anywhere from 23's to 24's with me riding him and I'm almost too big. $3500 obo. I may be bringing him on Sunday to the GFYRA in Lake City. Thanks to everyone for braving what started out as a nasty weekend. But we cowboy'd up & it worked out! Guess I bragged too much in my newsletter bout the weather. Anyway, thanks to the Langdales, Goodins & Vanzants for the great dinner on Saturday evening; and to you moms that all brought dishes. It was all great & the fellowship was very nice. So we will wait til it's warmer to have the "Scavenger Hunt."
I will have the points posted as soon as I can. We are having Spring Break (college) this week so don't know how far I will get but will do my best.

Hey guys,
I hope everyone had a great weekend and a safe trip home!! I just wanted to take a minute and thank a few people... These weekends take a huge effort from a number of people from the Aldridge and Motes families to the host commitees ( the Lehman/Greenwood families ) all of our sponsors, and the families who travel from all over to compete in this organization. There are always those who stand out and I want to say Thanks to a few who go beyond. Dwayne Pierce is always there to help out no matter what is asked of him!! He is always the first name that comes to mind when help is needed. Thanks Dwayne. Kinsey VanZant is another.... She didn't feel well this weekend but was still out there plugging away. LK RUFF AND REDDY. 11 year old, own son of ON THE MONEY RED. Reddy is about 14.3, stout, and good looking. Has won a bunch in Futurity, Derby, as well as, WPRA money. Quiet and easy to ride. Does not have a mean bone in him. He is not stupid at all! Does not like to be pulled on-leave him alone and he will work!!! Send him as far as you can and as fast as you can to first and he will swallow it!!! Dont run by or hit barrels. Selling because don't have time to ride him- I am in medical school. Asking $20,000.00 for him.... he is worth more than that and I paid more than that; but he is going to waste and I need to sell. This horse is sound and ready to go! Hauls great and is a kind horse with lots of personality....

I want to Thank everybody for helping us share "Chunk's" 5th birthday. Poor child has had to celebrate every year at her sister's rodeo's. I want to THANK M/M Leyman, Cherin Teaford & Jayde Greenwood for a great weekend! I appreciate you all for everything you did to accomplish a great rodeo. You are what it takes to make our association one of the best~! We appreciate all of the compliments but without great parents, we wouldn't have the best kids in the world to complete the association. I had several outsiders tell me yesterday, how impressed they were with the overall teamwork of all of us! WE appreciate everyone! We have been very blessed!
The Lord gave me the vision to start the association & I automatically started worrying about how I would do it. I should have only trusted that HE already knew the hearts of all of you. I am continually amazed as He always sends people to accomplish the task that HE set forth for me! Thanks for being my Angels! Continue the association in prayer and thankfulness and HE will continue to provide and bless us with the greatest Cowboys & Cowgirls anywhere as well as the means to fulfill His promise! It certainly has strengthened my faith!
