Subject Author Date It depends on your State. The National HQ office is allowing State Directors to decide if they want to allow former to compete in their state pageants. Many are allowing it. But it is NOT mandatory. Several states have decided to not let formers compete again. (NT) Still concerned about the Russia location mess 10/08/14 Wed The last time they did this which was 2 years ago, a former winner in my state won again. Mind you, we are not a big pageant state so not a lot of state competition. She did just as bad at nationals as she did the first time around. I find it embarrassing to say your Mrs. So and So twice. It should be a one and done. Once is prestigous, twice is desperate. Does it affect my life is a former competes and wins? No. Does it ruin my day? No. Could I possibly learn something by someone who could win a state title more than once? Yes. Compete all you want in other systems. Being a Mrs. Something America for the same state twice is lame. (NT) -- I agree that it should be a one-time opportunity for this system., 10/10/14 Fri As a contestant who is NOT a former, I have no problem competing against any one of them, should they elect to come back for another shot at their state title. Trust me, if anyone is complaining about it, it's because they lack self confidence and have low self-esteem. I love how y'all say it's because it's such a prestigious title and it would ruin it if a former comes back and wins again!!! I call BS......stop lying to yourself and you may just end up beating that former. (NT) -- Tired of the lame excuses., 10/11/14 Sat It's desperate& seriously a completly pathetic attempt to be a state title holder twice for the SAME state in the Mrs. A system Competing against them isn't the issue. Not a lot of states have serious competition and some states have NEVER had a top 10 competitor. I think it just reduces the actual title to all those other pageants where they crown 18 winner and then re-crown the exta same girls the next year for life-time acheivement. The prestige of a Mrs America type pageant is you can only hold the state title once. Spend your year promoting it then pass it off to the next lady. I am one of those, though that is dedicated to volunteering and service and would utilize the title like I did before to further those causes I support. Because of this, it would seem strange, especially to come back with the same title again, since the common, everyday person is not going to get it. I don't want to detract from the importance of the title, nor the work I do. I'd be up for a regional option. Can someone please explain this to me because it has been many, many years since Mrs. America was a first class pageant. BUT, I think it's the general public who actually think it's prestigious. The general public doesn't know about the gazillions of pageants that are out there. Most of them know about 4... Miss America... Miss USA.... Miss Universe... and Mrs. America. I know those are the only ones my non-pageant friends know about. So when you tell them you are Mrs. "State" America they are happy for you. They affiliate it with the others where you can only compete once. That's just my take on it. As pageant girls we know that this system has gone down-hill. (NT) -- 2nd time a charm?, 09/19/15 Sat I couldn't disagree more about Texas. Not a fan, but she is tall. It helps her stand out for sure. Obviously they were looking for a winner to re-brand them. The winner is a doll, but a classic, young queen that looks like a Miss. Apparently very little emphasis on anything but height. There were only two or three in the top 15 that weren't at least 5'10. I agreed with the winner and a couple of runner up but I truly did not understand why a few of those ladies never made top 15. Was just very weird in that regard.
