YMCA of McHenry County and Camp Algonquin has committed to assisting families left homeless due to Hurricane Katrina. We are in the process of adopting five families for an indefinite amount of time and are busily preparing housing and we will need help with the preparations. Our first family will be arriving before the end of this week Previously committed to offering housing for as many as 100 victims could not be arranged, due to requirement of a 12 week commitment. Unfortunately our buildings that could house this many people are not heated and winter is coming quickly. Thanks to the Fox Valley Region Jaycees notifying McHenry County residents, our phones have been ringing offering assistance. How can you help? Donations for items on our wish list are being accepted at Camp Algonquin 7am-7pm (call us for additional hours) We need skilled laborers- Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters Cash Donations being accepted at Camp Algonquin to assist in food, clothing and services for our new families People power needed to help clean, paint, and minor repairs.
