Subject: An "Original" 11th Air Assault Division, Ft. Benning, GA

To all my brothers who served in the 11th Air Assault Division "test" in the "boonies" at Ft. Benning, GA during 1963-64 (my tour ended there). I proudly wear my "11th Air Assault Wings" on my U.S. Army black & gold baseball style cap. My son-in-law recently graduated from the Army Warrant Officer Helicopter Pilot training at Ft. Rucker, AL and we are proud of him indeed.

Whether our original wings are offical or not, we are the ORIGINALS and we are BROTHERS. No one can remove that honor and pride from us.

Hi, my dad was also in the 11th Air Assault Division (Test) between 1963-1965. He didn't get out of the military until after they became the 1st CAV Air Mobile. He said that his patch was red with white wings and #11. I can only find the blue patch with white wings and #11. He also was in the Harmony Church section of Ft. Benning, GA. His name is SPE4 Arthur Rogers. Did you know him by chance? If so would you like to make contact with him? Also, do you know anything about this patch that I am looking for? Thanks for your help, Sheri. >>I proudly wear my 11th Air Assault Wings. We are

To all my 11th Air assault Brothers I too wear my 11th Air assault shoulder patch and my air assault wings as well as my Airborne wings, along with My 127th Combat Engineer battalion patch. I served at Ft. Benning GA from 1964 until my tour ended April 1965. I was sad to learn our unit transitioned into the 1st Cav, but I do know that all who went on to Nam, served with great honor and distinction in some of the worst fighting of that war. I thank all of you who went through those years of hardship, and sacrifices and made it back and especially for those who did not come home. So, I proudly wear my Air Air Assault badges in your honor. We are BROTHERS in honor and pride.

I spent the last 5 months of my 3 year enlistment in the 1228th Hel Sp Bn at Benning, field testing the then new CH-47 Chinooks. We had 12 at Benning and one in Alaska (cold weather testing). Did not get to know anyone real close. Just wanted to finish my tour. Did so while in the field,(Oct. 1964) somewhere in S. Carolina.

Try an Military surplus store for 11th AAD patch and Sky Soldier wings. After 50 Years I still have my khakis and fatigues with patches to hand down to my grandsons some day, if they're interested.
