I understand that my great-grandmother, Margaret McFarland, who married John Byers was full blooded MicMac. Margaret died in Island Falls, Maine abt. 1928. I have not had much luck in tracing her ancestry or his. I know they also lived in Crystal/Island Falls, Maine where my Grandmother, Mary Byers was born on 7/22/1893, d. 9/15/1964 in Houlton, Me. My grandmother Mary Ann Byers married Forest E. Howe in Island Falls, date unknown,(I believe). My grandparents had 12 children together and my grandfather had a daughter by a previous marriage. His first wife died in childbirth. I know my grandmother had (3) sisters: Viola, Teresa and ? and 1 brother, Frank, also. If anyone has any information that would help me, I would be truly grateful. On the other hand one of my aunts thought it was my grandfather that was MicMac. He was born in Eel River, New Brunswick on 9/30/1885, d. 1/18/1974, New Limerick, Me. His parents were Andrew Howe b. 1843 in Oromocto, NB and died 1914, in Island Falls, Maine. His Mother was Elmira Buckingham b.8/15/1851 in Blissville, NB. and d. 11/26/1927 in Island Falls, Maine. Andrew and Elmira were married in Sudbury, NB. on Dec. 3, 1868. Elmira's parents were Solomon and Amelia Buckingham. I'm not sure if Amelia died and he later married Mildred DeWitt, there is some descrepancy there. Forest had (3) brothers:Caleb, Joshua and Sterling, all older than himself. Any information on any of those names would be gratefully received. My grandfathers Mother was Elmira Buckingham. I do not know for sure what Andrew's Parents names were for sure. I think I linked him to John Howe born in St. John, New Brunswick, date unknown. Elmira's father was Solomon Buckingham.
Thank You, Mary L. Brown
