Kris, Wilma's former roommate, came with a date and a pack of those stubby Marlboro Light 72s. She explained that those big Dutch Masters cigars she had smoked did not fit in everywhere she went.
Kris is only 5-2 so a short cigarette fits her. Those 6-inch Dutch Masters were also as tall as she was.
Grace and Dakota also graced us. Dakota took up the habit to lose weight and does pretty well at that. Grace joined her in smoking and it just added to her grace.
Of the girls who found guys at the beer joint, I would say Gwen and Greg have the best chance of making it. They really hit it off well. Joy may smoke but she does not want Josh to be a guy like his dad.
Lonnie has fallen hard for Sue Ann and his parents, who own all the operations they have open and set to open, really like her but she realizes more than the others that she is just out of high school and he is just out of college.
There was no shortage of smokers. Wilma, Gwen, Sue Ellen and Joy joined the visitors like Kris, Dakota and Grace in smoking.
There were other smoking pros like Heather and Alexis. With Grace, we almost had a girls basketball team on the dance floor. I think Bart has recruited Heather to come here instead of a junior college.
Heather thinks she can play JC and smoke. She also wants them to give a scholarship to Alexis. Alexis said she can never get in shape after smoking 6 years.
Heather said she would show her how to loaf.
Some of the girls need to learn how to smoke. Becky, who went to high school with me, took it up before the first of the year and has tried to draw several into smoking.
Some have flunked out.
Wanda, from my high school, had a cigarette about 2 weeks ago. She still looks like each one is her first but she brought a pack and smoked about 8. She gave four to Shirley. Can't blame her. Thanks to Shirley, she is not the worst smoker there.
Actually, the worst had to be Faith, a misfit good girl trying to go bad. Faith rooms with Alice. Usually they go home on weekends. Both are 21 and are coming to college after working 3 years, but Alice is much more worldly. They both had a drink which seriously seemed to impair them.
They ordered another drink. Alice said she likes to smoke when she drinks. She secured a Marlboro Light 100 from Gwen. Faith decided she should only have a shorty from Kris.
Faith puffed and then gulped. With a few gulps, the drink was gone. Then Faith asked Gwen how to inhale. Gwen said she needed to smoke a few more before trying that. Faith said Bull and the S-word the Eresident used. She puffed a lot of smoke but had no plan after after that.
BS was about to turn into Vom-Mit. I began to duck. Wilma grabbed an empty popcorn container and put it in front of her. Hardly a mess at all.
Then they took her outside for a little air. She came back and said she was sorry. Faith ordered a Dr Pepper and held that. Then she danced and held on. Then she smoked a cigarette and held on.
One of the good old boys offered to take her to his house that night. Faith lit another cigarette. We all left as soon as they started flashing the lights. This hick asked if there was anything he could do for her. She said he could go to the store and get her a pack of VS 120s. She was in the car with us and Gewn was driving Alice's car. Faith said we should leave him with a pack of VS. We said just be nice. I gave his $5 for his troubles and we headed for the college where she put on a $10 show.
