I'm less surprised every day that my 63-year-old mother is still smoking. She took this up almost 2 weeks ago as a sort of non-verbal apology to my wife, daughters and another teen granddaughter for her opposition to their smoking.
A few words can be worth a thousand cigarettes. They've found some nice neighbors so we went and had lunch. They needed a little time in the pure air-conditioning but mom insisted on the deck where she could smoke.
I was glad to see mom get off Newports although she said smoking the Parliament Menthol Ultra Lights are like walking into a room with mint air freshener.
We ate light seafood at a place that overlooks the water. Rather than leave, mother had her fourth minty cigarette. She did not ask to stop for another brand. She has several packs of Newports left and I don't know who wants them.
The place attracts visitors and people just on their lunch hour. You can smoke on the deck but ever there most don't. There is no smoking section. The breeze was great at that level so I'm sure it was cooler than the sun beating off the surf or sand.
Two young ladies did smoke. One left a table for 5 to smoke and another left the non-smoking area to go to the bar and have cigarettes.
