The new baby continues to be the center of attention. Sylvia, the mom, is doing well. So is my son Vince. Beatriz,Sylvia's mother, seems to be having trouble with her children.
Her ex husband came over to visit the baby and said he saw their 14-year-old daughter smoking in the front seat with her big sister. That's Rebecca who is 19. Yesterday, Beatriz was disappointed to see Rebecca smoking. The father of the girls said not to worry about Rebecca, but to get the younger Delores to quit smoking.
Their kids who smoke took it up later. Beatriz put her ex off by saying they should meet at Miguel's and talk it over.
After that, we bid the kids and baby good night. Rebecca went off with her college friends and Delores, the 14-year-old, came to our house.
They were joined by Sawyer, my oldest granddaughter. She's 13. I looked out, fully expecting girls to be smoking. They were smoking okay but it was cigars. It was those cheap cigars given away to celebrate the baby's birth.
Around 10, Beatriz came to get her daughter. She was slightly frustrated. She said she smoked the premium cigar peace pipe but the dinner event did not go well.
For Delores' sake, her mother was not in condition to tell that her daughter had been smoking.
We took Sawyer to her house. On the way back, I asked my daughter how they liked the cigars. She said she did like them at all. She said Sawyer thought smoking a cigar was cool. Delores, she told me, did not like the cigar but still wanted to go to the cigar bar Saturday with her mother and big sister. I didn't know about that plan but it's really none of my business.
