The pageant was a joke and it was almost two hours late. I can see why people are upset. I have never been so upset in my life when I left a pageant. My child got nothing but a cheap doll and paid that amount of money to enter. It was just a prelim also. Then I found out that the judges knew all the kids in the pageant. AMEN TO THIS!!!! I used to direct a pageant system about 3 years ago -- Former and never again pageant director,
and pageant moms would say I want to do your system and we would like to see such and such awards given at your system so I go and find the big large crown and 4-6' 2-3 post trophies, custom banners and the works to give yet I would spend out money everytime and might get 3 deposit by the deadline. Then maybe a day or so before the pageant 10 moms contacted me wanting to do the pageant and would say I will pay at the door I promise I will be there so I show up at the pageant and pay the room rental fee, judges fee and haul my awards there to have maybe 7 contestants. Moms don't understand that you have to have a deposit in order to know how many awards to get or what to expect the turnout for your pageant. Most systems I see (expect nationals) only require a $15-30 deposit and this is just to ensure them that you will be attending the pageant. This is why I gave up as a director. I love pageantry and being involved but for this reason it has turned me against being a director. I now enjoy just attending and watching my niece and friends doing the pageants.

If you were so upset then why didn't you talk to the directors before you left? If I recall, the emcee did say that if you had any questions concerning the pageant to be sure to come and talk to them. And they were still there when I left which was plenty of time to speak with them. Also, there was about 20 kids there, not 13. The awards were not cheap. Crowns were from 4 1/2" to 10" and trophies at least 2ft. to 5ft.

They even let big name kids go up on stage when they are supposed to be adding up the scores which takes at least 90 min. or more. They have to make sure they get who they want to win. They need reported to the Better Business Bureau!!
